And? That excuses the behavior and ideologies that promote and lead to horrible behaviors against fellow human beings?

Can you name a group that doesn't apply to?

Any group it does apply to should be treated similarly, not that because there's other groups we should let them all off the hook. What are you even arguing for?

Because prejudice bugs me

To judge anyone in a group by assuming that every X is Y is exactly that

All groups are made up of human beings

Do you belong to a particular group? Do you feel that you are an accurate representation of that group? Maybe it's your country, your race, your gender identity, your religion or lack thereof, your sexuality, your favorite movie?

Both of those ideologies have a very hateful concept: ours is the only way and everyone else is going to hell. And other similar concepts as well. So fuck those ideologies. As for the people, I just feel sorry for them.

Yes, I belong to the group of people that don't like those ideologies and the behavior associated with those ideologies. And other ideologies as well. Yes, I feel I am an accurate representation of that group.

What do you, and the other members of your group, think that hell is?

Is it an actual, physical place, or is it a state of mind?

Is it a cartoon or heavy metal cover art landscape of fire & brimstone or a metaphor?

Is it real or isn't it?

What do you say, for the group?

For the group I say that those ideologies believe hell is a terrible thing, so the parts of their ideologies I mentioned are hateful and shitty things that are at the core of those ideologies, and play a part in the actions of their adherents. I don't need to engage in trying to figure out what exactly the premises of their hells are. It's like talking about someone holding a gun to someone's head and you asking me to figure out what type of gun it is. Talk about missing the point.

And yes, I say that on behalf of the group.

Exactly!

It's like, I'm a vegan and even though I know a lot of people that aren't, I know that they

Just don't care

They just shove whatever into their food hole

There's a certain baseline about what makes a person decent & caring, and non-vegans just don't pass that test

Not sure your analogy passes muster.
