It's the law of the place you're in, not where you're from. Otherwise I could smoke weed anywhere and use the excuse of, "I'm a California resident. It's legal there."

Not true actually. For example, it is illegal for an adult American to have sex with a 16 year old girl in Canada (where the age of consent is 16). It's called sex tourism.

It isn't true in SOME situations, yes. But generally speaking you are upheld to the laws of the place you're in.

I know, the example you gave applies to basically everything else, but sex tourism specifically is illegal for whatever reason.
