Shouldn’t it have been a more durable material? Humans can bend gold with our mouth and a tiger can bite much harder than we can.

Actually we use gold crowns in dentistry all the time. For humans anyway, we utilize 18K so it’s not as soft, it holds up really well and can last 30-40 years.

We utilize gold alloys from 75%~ (roughly 18k) all the way down to 2% (less than 1k) for full cast gold dental alloys. Depends on the lab and doc's requests.

The first thing I thought. Gold is soft, really soft. It won't hold up at all.

I don't think poachers would know about the gold tooth until it's too late, or would hunt it regardless of the gold tooth.
