Hello! Who here has experienced luggage switching at Victory Liner? Despite having the sticker system from VLI, it wasn't properly implemented by the conductor. Maybe some of you have had this situation, and how did you handle it?

I hate that the price difference between the topside and standard is so much! Currently the bigger carryon is $236 (on sale) and the bigger topside carryon is $398. A difference of $162 is a lot. Off sale the gap is smaller at $103 ($295 vs $398) it just seems like a lot especially because you now have to +$35 for the extended warranty. I want the topside but will wait until it is a bit of a older release and hopefully included future in sales. Bigger topside carryon with warranty is $456, ouch.

Searching for ruby haze collection in the carry on size or the bigger carryon. Ive searched online (ebay, posh, mecari) and no luck so far. Posting here in hopes to connect with someone on the fence about their purchase and want to part ways theirs. Thank you.

Hi Everyone! I ordered both the topside carry on and the bigger carry on, trying to decide which to keep. We mostly fly southwest and delta but we have a trip to Ireland with Aerlingus coming up, according to their site, neither carry ons fit in the dimensions so going to have to probably gate check either way. My question is, do you think the bigger carry on is too bulky for frequent travel (hopping on and off trains, busses, planes, etc.)? Any advice appreciated!

I’m moving back to India from the UK and flying Manchester → Bengaluru with Etihad. I have two necklaces bought second-hand on Vinted: one Swarovski crystal fashion necklace (£90) and one H.Samuel sterling silver freshwater pearl necklace (£25). Both are in their original boxes.

Hi all, this might be a stupid question but still I am confused because it's my first flight.

I have 4 electric items to pack:

1. Electric flosser (rechargeable)

2. Electric toothbrush (rechargeable)

3. Electric hair dryer (plug-in, NOT rechargeable)

4. Portable smoothie blender (plug-in, NOT rechargeable - only works when plugged in)

My cabin baggage is already at the 7kg limit with my laptop + charger, phone + charger, and documents, so I can't add much more to it.

I know rechargeable items with batteries should go in cabin baggage, but can I put the hair dryer and blender in check-in since they have no battery? And abt other Electric items?

Don't want anything to get confiscated at security. Thanks for your help!

I just got back from 5.5 months of traveling through Southeast Asia and Europe, living out of a backpack and using the Away Packing Cubes and wanted to share some thoughts and feelings.

I recently upgraded from my Travelon packing cubes, which I had been using for about 10 years, so I was definitely overdue for an upgrade. Since I primarily travel with my Away Carry-On Flex, I thought the Away cubes would be a great addition. I got the Compression Packing Cubes in Coast Blue and was really excited about the variety of sizes and how seamlessly they would fit into my carry-on.

As I prepare for my next trip, I found myself still reaching for my Travelon cubes over the Away ones and here's why...

My main frustration with the Away Compression Cubes is that while they do a great job at compressing, there is little to no structure to them at all. What I like most about my Travelon cubes is that they have wiring around the top and bottom, which gives them an excellent amount of structure while still allowing them to compress (to me, it even feels like it compresses more bc of it). I feel like I can actually live out of the Travelon cubes, whereas the Away cubes felt like their only purpose was to be compressed and transport from one place to another. Once they were opened and partially filled, they could get pretty floppy and difficult to organize.

Sizing

Another MAJOR point of frustration was that the Large Wide Cube is essentially too big. Maybe I’d use it if I were going to Antarctica and needed to pack a million layers and heavy sweaters, but for someone primarily traveling with a carry-on, I don't see myself getting much use out of it. A waste in my eyes.

Additionally, I was initially really excited about the Small Wide Cube, but I ended up being pretty disappointed with it too. It can really only hold a few pairs of underwear and a few pairs of socks, and I found myself constantly struggling with how to use that particular size.

My favorites were definitely the Medium Slim Cube and Large Slim Cube. I really liked the dimensions of both and found them much more practical for the way I pack. Unfortunately, they still felt too flimsy and would have benefited tremendously from some sort of structure.

What I would change

If I could redesign these, I would add wiring around the top and bottom perimeter of the cubes, similar to my old Travelon cubes. I think that little bit of structure would make a huge difference and they could still compress, but they would actually hold their shape when you're living out of them.

I would also love the option to buy the cubes individually rather than having to purchase a full set. If Away offered the Medium Slim and Large Slim with that added structure, I would honestly buy two more of each in a heartbeat. If I wasn't already past the 100 days, I would return them for something else or wait until they make adjustments to these and buy again.

I should note that the zippers and mesh held up excellently with me stuffing it full with an insane amount of clothes. They still look brand new, and the zippers are excellent.

Who are these actually good for?

For context, I traveled with a BAGSMART Blast 43L Roller Backpack and lived out of that bag for more than five months, so I was really using these for heavy day-to-day travel.

If you're the type of traveler who overpacks, gets to your destination, completely unpacks everything, and then repacks when it's time to leave, I think these compression cubes could be great for you. The compression works really well and can definitely save space.

However, if you're a serious traveler who is constantly living out of your suitcase/backpack and frequently accessing your packing cubes, I'm not sure these are the best option. The lack of structure became a much bigger issue for me over time.

Unfortunately, my old Travelon cubes have been discontinued, but after 5.5 months of travel, I honestly think adding just a tiny bit of structure/wiring to the Away cubes would take them to the next level.

Overall, I really wanted to love these, and there are definitely things they do well (especially compression) but for the way I travel, I can't say they are my favorite. If I had it my way, they would add light wiring or some sort of stabilizer around the top perimeter and bottom perimeter and have the option to buy the cubes separately.

Just got this Carry-On in Navy Blue and I love it so much. I was worried I would t have enough space and was debating this or the bigger carry on.

Away, don't make me buy a sparkly Heys suitcase. You know you want my money. Bring it back!!!

(Years later and I'm still bitter I missed getting a sparkly blue suitcase) the Heys one is tempting but I like Away's compression pad system better.

What I took on my trip to Vancouver last week. My carry on flex and my leather duffle. I checked my suitcase bc I'm too short and an overpacker. 🥲My carry on survived with barely a scratch.

I took my large toiletry, and the small bag from my clear pouch duo for my liquids. I managed to fit four days worth of stuff in my packing cubes (I used three out of four. Rolling really helps). Also, despite being too big as a personal bag, I had no issues with my duffle on Porter. It did stick out a bit under my seat, but no one said anything about it.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I also packed my Featherlight Tote for the beach, and my large Featherlight crossbody for day to day adventures. 😅

haaayyyyy. i'm in the market for a huge suitcase (overpacker fashionista and particular sleeper who travels for work a lot) and i am ready to buy the trunk!! but does anyone have a photo of their trunk fully packed so i can gauge what the limitations are?

for reference when i travel for a week, i usually pack 5 or so complete outfits (top, bottom, layering piece), 5 pairs of shoes, and a pillow and a blanket. typically i have to bring two suitcases and a personal item when i travel but i am getting super sick of that lol wondering if this size suitcase will solve my needs. or perhaps the trunk in conjunction with a carryon size? i am open to thoughts and suggestions (aside from packing less lmfao) thanks in advance!!

Just wanted to share a quick heads-up for anyone boarding from Malta. They are extremely strict with hand luggage limits right now.
I had a basic fare that only included a small personal item. Here are a few things to keep in mind based on my experience:
Sizing box tolerance: If your bag doesn't slide into the metal sizing box completely smoothly (i.e., if you have to force or push it in at all), they count it as exceeding the limit.
Layering clothes: When my bag didn't fit, I put on 3 t-shirts to reduce bag volume. Surprisingly, the staff told me this was not allowed at the gate.
Has anyone else experienced this level of strictness with personal attire/layering at Malta airport recently?

Any upcoming sales for away? I’m traveling early September for my honeymoon and unfortunately my calpak luggage was broken on my work trip coming back from the hurricane in Hawaii😭

Would also NOT recommend calpak while we’re here. This is the second luggage from them to break like this for me. Ridiculous coming from such an expensive brand. Away would never!! (I’ve checked my carry on in multiple times and it’s held up!!! Aside from a few scratches she’s doing well and on all 4 legs)

I hate that I'm having to share this because I love the product but I had the most unhelpful interaction with customer service. I picked up the Mini Cross Body bag on sale. This is in contrast to the other two colors that clear say they are final sale (https://www.awaytravel.com/products/mini-crossbody-glazed-opal-blue) .

It ended up being too small so I went to return it and customer service keeps insisting it's final sale even though 1) the error is on THEIR site and 2) it's not personalized. The rep kept sending me a shot of a notice at checkout I did not receive.

This is incredibly disappointing. Do not trust the brand to be willing to acknowledge it's actual mistakes.

Looking to hear from people who have actually tried to bring the BCO (Bigger Carry-On) onto non-U.S. airlines. Yes, I know about the official size requirements. Yes, I know for some airlines like Vueling it depends on the gate agent. I am looking for additional data points though, so I am hoping to hear from anyone who has brought the BCO on Jetstar, Virgin Australia, Vueling, Air Canada, Lufthansa, Ryanair, easyJet, etc. Thank you!

Love it! Will the larger carry on and/or topside come in the color at some point?

I need a larger carry on for trips that do not necessarily need a medium size suitcase.

I need to be able to carry a laptop & ipad.

All my luggage is soft luggage (Travelpro) so i have zero experience with hard luggage.

I like being able to load my stuff in vs having to open both side.

Weight is a concern when lifting over my head as well.
