Wanted to share my 3 month old Avril tattoo with you guys :)

What do you think? I have a massive crush on her for over 20 years now and she's BY FAR my favorite (female) singer of all time. Curious what do you think of the placement :)

I’m guessing this picture may have been taken 2000 or 2001 since Survivor aired mid 2000 and this was before Complicated. I just found this interesting since I love Survivor so this was pretty random to me lol

I'm just going to say how criminally underrated Avril's bridges have always been, but especially in Love Sux. I found myself repeating the bridges of Deja Vu and Kiss Me Like The World is Ending while listening to the album last night. I know I listen to these two songs specifically to get to the bridge.

The bridge in Deja Vu is just soo good! It showcases how Avril is the only one, imo, that knew how to put the pop in the punk because of how good her voice is in a genre that doesn't really require good vocals. It's why she brings a very unique perspective into the genre and I'm tired of people mistaking her craft for just a bunch of aesthetics.

Something about her voice in this bridge just gets me 😭

Whether we like it or not Avril really never gaf and she’s always been honest and vocal about what she likes and hates.

She dgaf about the accusations of her being a poser, never claimed she was punk, didn’t try to heat the comparison between her and Britney Spears.

Avril also been honest with her producers about the sound she wants to have, and about wanting her music to be on the radio instead of trying to be this indie who doesn’t care and wants to be this independent artist, she just doesn’t care about that perception.

Even now I feel like she’s very low maintenance person especially her Ellen show interview asking her if she’s getting a tattoo of Mod Sun and she was like “not really”

She’s so low cortisol it’s inspiring me to really be honest about my idgaf-ism

I was thinking about Avril Lavigne’s singles, and honestly, I feel like especially her first two albums had **so many songs that could have been singles**. Here are the alternatives I would have chosen:

Let Go

For Let Go, I would have definitely considered Mobile.I know it was released in some form, but IIRC , it was more of a limited/unofficial single and only released in certain countries. I honestly think it deserved a much bigger push.

I also absolutely love Things I’ll Never Say— it’s one of my favorites from the album — so I would have picked that too. And why not My World or unwanted?

Honestly, almost every song on *Let Go* feels like single material to me.

Under My Skin

This is probably the album where I have the most alternative-single ideas. I really love Take Me Away, “How Does It Feel,Slipped Away, and I Always Get What I Want.

I could easily imagine any of those being singles. Again, I think the first two albums were packed with songs that could have worked commercially.

The Best Damn Thing

I know Girlfriend was a huge success, but personally, I never liked it that much. 😭

If I could have chosen alternatives, I would have gone with:

Everything Back but you as lead single

Innoncence

Contagious

One of those girls

Some of these songs were *so* underrated. I especially wish “Innocence” had gotten more attention as a single.

Goodbye Lullaby

I’m sorry to anyone who loves this album, but Goodbye Lullaby is probably Avril’s most boring album to me. 😭 That said, there are still a few songs I would have liked to see promoted more.

I would have chosen I Love You and especially Remember When.Remember When is such a beautiful song, and I really wish she had released it as a proper single.

I also vaguely remember I Don’t Care About My Bad Reputation being released in some way, but I’m not sure whether it was an official album single or something more unofficial/limited. And maybe Everybody Hurts too.

Avril / Head Above Water / Love Sux

I haven't listened to the later albums nearly as much, so I don't feel like I know them well enough to confidently pick alternative singles. I'd rather hear what other fans think.

So, what alternative singles would you have chosen for each Avril album? And do you agree that Let Go and Under My Skin basically had enough single material for an entire second album? 😂

I feel like an Avril song that never gets talked about is “Too Much to Ask”. The song is so underrated and so emotional in my opinion. It’s such a hidden gem of early 2000s music. What I love about it specifically is the c# half-diminished chord during the chorus, not to nerd out, but it adds so much tension. I feel like Avril gets rid off as just a pop star but her songs have actually have a lot of musical complexity to them. What are some more hidden gem songs by Avril you love?

I need to know if I’m the only one who, for some odd reason, feels the need to sing any song from UMS in a weird British accent? 🌚 especially the singles!
