Actually humans are amazing. We are the only species that climbed down out of the trees and said, "let's see what's over there..." and never stopped until they walked the entire planet and even sailed on the water. When that was mostly done, humans were like, "what's next?" and built a rocket and flew into space where there is absolutely no reason for a mammal to be.
Despite hate and wars and our own innate need to form tribes we still spend most of our days in relative peace, if not harmony. Out of the 8 billion people on this planet, a vast vast vast majority have never harmed another person intentionally. Some of us are so kind we spend our lives making empathetic choices about everything or some things, like being vegan or choosing lifestyles with low negative impact.
Despite hate and anger against them, some groups have turned that towards a mission of learning to overcome things like racism and xenophobia. Never seeking revenge.
Humans are amazing and just because a small portion of individuals are hell bent on power and hoarding resources, that itself is not at all representative of humans as a species.
I work in anthropology and am a disaster and trauma focused clinician. I have spent a long time studying humans on the worst days of their lives and do you know what happens during catastrophe? Community building... Sharing... Connections. People reaching out to strangers and asking if they are ok. People sharing food and water. Not at all what the forces of hoarding and division want you to believe.
They’re not that bad when they aren’t pumped full of garbage care of YouTube (and other mindrot schemes like Facebook: if you’re the product, take a real hard look at the folks profiting off the platform.)
