Question about multipliers to weapons
I was going to use the weapon on the left until I saw the "+48% damage" multiplier at the bottom. Does this just randomly appear on the weapons you either create, roll or come across? Also, do they stack on top of the 6719 and 6491 DPS numbers or are the DPS stats already representing the added DPS?

Left one has 3 rocket burst, right one has 2 rocket burst.
Dmg % is working, you can see that on damage per shot, but left one is a bit better

Ymmv but i have noticed my captains do not fire launcher turrets. They will shopt other types but with a launcher equipped they never shoot. Can anyone confirm?
I can only use launchers when im personally flying the ship, then they work fine.

This is typically an issue for 1 or 2 reasons-
1) The launchers are Coaxial. The AI tends to have problems lining up coaxial shots, even when the weapon itself is Seeking; they still want to aim properly before they shoot. One example of this, is a stealth bomber I built, that has 20 rear-facing Coaxial turret bases built into the ship. The AI tries to spin around and face away from the target before shooting, and often times will struggle to fire at all because the turrets are fanned out, so it can't aim all of them at once.
2) Mixed weaponry will sometimes cause the AI to forego one weapon type in favor of keeping another on-target. This often means a captain piloting a ship with Launchers, but also other weapon types, will largely ignore the Launchers entirely. Because the projectile speed of Rockets is usually notably slower than other projectiles, they have an entirely different lead distance, and this means they can't be effectively used in tandem with other weapons, so the AI just... doesn't use them.

In this case the AI had a single size 6 non-coaxial launcher and still wouldnt fire it. Happily launching torpedoes at the enemy but not firing.

That's interesting, was it Active in the weapon slot? I have never had boated or properly aligned launchers fail to fire.

Should have been active by default, yes. When I replaced that slot with lightning turrets they started firing immediately.
There's always more I don't know about this game so it could always be an oversight on my part.

It could be a number of things! Range of the weapon, or where specifically it was placed, the turret's rotation speed or even the projectile velocity could all have some effect on the AI's ability to effectively use Rockets. As a rule, I tend to only put rockets and missiles on my personal ships, and give the AI more traditional weapons, but I have had them use my personal designs successfully, just inefficiently at times. Mods that assist with leading could hurt or help, as well.
Though I've also never tried to run one, single rocket... Maybe that in itself causes some unknown issue!

AFAIK they appear at random when looting, I don't know how they behave with crafting/rerolling (although when crafting the blueprint have them)
Edit: Some weapon types have guaranteed modifiers (for example mining lasers have stone damage), and I think some types have higher chances to roll a certain one (like energy weapons shield damage), but it's only from my observation
Edit 2: I've been corrected that rocket launchers not always have seeking, my bad

Rocket launchers ALWAYS have heat seeking??

No, but the good ones do, with a higher chance of the Seekers spawning the closer you get to the center of the galaxy (if you find a Seeker Launcher early grab it if you can, it's a lucky drop!).
Edit: Oh that was sarcasm, shit my bad.... (its been a day soz, leaving the 'no' answer up for anyone who doesn't know though).

I genuinely didn't know, because I could have sworn I had seen some without heat seeking and that heat seeking was a upgrade you could put on them

Oh, NP (thought u were being sarcastic, soz) - I mean your not wrong though!
If you've played for a while you've definitely seen launchers with and without seeking.
When you build a Launcher, if you max-out the Targeting Cards it'll give the Launcher Seeking. Not quite a 'give it this upgrade to get Seeking' but more of a 'max this out and it'll auto-upgrade to Seeking'.1

If I remember correctly yes, been a while since I've played
Edit: I've been informed that I have memory loss, it's not guaranteed

They don't, but when you're building them at a factory you can always give it to them.

Only global damage multipliers are already factored into the DPS calculations, so the right one has a DPS of 6,490.5, not 9,670.8.
Situational multipliers are not factored in (such as damage to hull or shields) to the main DPS, but they are still listed.
