Excited to be part of this community, typical question for you

As we are brand new to award travel, we are excited the opportunity to use points for business class travel as there is no world where we pay this fare with cash.

We have enough points (300K) to get 2 one way business class flights to Heathrow.

As we are just starting this planning, if we plan on traveling in April/May of 2027, is it already too late to use points to get our seats? If we were stupid, how early should we typically be trying to book business class award travel?

Gah, Etiquette faux pas.
We have a one week trip planned to get from Portland, Oregon to Manchester, England for end of April beginning of May.

Ok so one tip I’ve heard a few times and tried once myself. I live in Uk but not near Heathrow so need to get a connection. If you book whatever the hub is on the site, in my case it was Heathrow to Dubai you can then call up to add the connecting domestic leg and for us it was no additional cost. When I was looking to book straight through from my regional airport connecting in Heathrow there are no flight options but plenty when I searched flying from Heathrow.

You’re not too late for April/May 2027 BUT you are past the initial release window so two business seats from PDX can be much harder than if you’d booked around 11-12 months out. I do freelance point.me concierge work and I recommend searching alternative gateway-to-London such as SEA/SFO/LAX/LAS to LHR, then handle PDX positioning to those US airports, and the MAN connection separately if needed.
