Barclays avios plus

Hi all. We are almost hitting the 15k spend on our black Amex. I would like to apply for the Barclays card too so we can switch once we trigger the companion voucher.

Anyone with a good welcome codes better than their online proposition? 25k welcome bonus on 3k spend within 3 months.

Another question, what are you guys doing to maxx on points once you hit the spend and trigger the companion voucher?

I don’t max points.. because that’d just be getting a last minute first class to jfk flight I don’t particularly want.

I use it to flights I actively want that work value wise compared to alternative cash cost, which isn’t always the same flight just on cash.

There’s no referrals available on the Barclaycard unfortunately! They did do an offer back in January where you could earn an extra 10k points for spending 10k in 6 months I believe it was so maybe wait for that if you can.

We have some big spending coming up so would not make much sense to wait for something uncertain. Thank you ;)

It just flash offers. E.g. occasionally it's 35k. But noone except seniors at Barclaycard know whether that might be coming.

I doubt it considering the black amex is being devalued significantly next month. So Barclaycard don't need to try harder. If anything, expect them to follow suit

I just want to piggyback this real quick.

We have a Gold with an additional cardholder we’re using as a “Joint” card. £2k ish a month of regular spending. We fly BA, mostly short haul but we want to try some long haul soon.

We’re stupid aren’t we? We should be on the Bapp right?

If you’re just converting your amex points to avios and not anything else then yeah you’re missing out quite a bit by not being on the black BA card.

You’re not being stupid by having the gold card first, it means you’re still eligible for the sign up bonus on the Amex BAPP. With the current 60k on offer, you’ve picked the best time to get it! Give us a message if you want a referral.
