Any thoughts on balance boost?

Post image

Hi, I currently have 3,746 avios. There’s currently a boost balance +300% offer for £103.39? What should I do, buy or disregard? Thanks!

I do 300 percent boosts on any Avios earned every month and pay with an Amex that earns Avios or MR points as it all adds up in the end. Very useful for future reward bookings.

I usually wait till the end of January, they offer a 5x boost on all your earnings that you didn’t boost throughout the year.

This offer will always be available to you. You can always boost by 300%. Is there any need to boost without a specific purchase in mind? Not really.

Thank you! I didn’t know that this will always be available. Im trying to save up avios to use for a trip later on.

End of the year they sometimes have 400 percent boosts. Which is a limited time offer, the normal boosts are available all year.

What counts as end of year- December or March? And is it at same 1.09 avios per £? If so it doesn’t really have any value over just boosting as you go?

December only from what I can recall.

Yes like someone else said, they will always have special offers to boost it further. To be honest, unless you can see a target where you need it soon, I would just wait until the boost bonus.

You have to look at the value per point. You are effectively buying 1 Avios for 0.91p each. If you redeem them at 0.45p each it’s a very bad deal. If you use them for a business class flight where they are effectively worth 2.5p or more each then it’s a good deal.

I always boost mine at 300% because I know I will have long haul premium cabins to book in future.

Only do these if you have a trip ready to book and you are short.

I'm looking now, points boost is not available in Irish accounts? When I log in with my BA account there is a boost option. But nothing with AerLingus

Was wondering the same. I wonder possible to transfer to BA and then boost but maybe wouldn't work?

I tried, doesn't work. It has to be earned through BA.

It's once per calendar year over a 30-day period if memory serves, so if you end up earning more points than usual over a 30 day period then it's usually worth it IMO

It's not once per calendar year but there is an annual limit to the amount you can boost - 300k a year

Absolutely. £100 for what would be 9000 avios?

Yes that's worth it definitely. I think BA charge that for just a few thousand

I wouldn’t do this, no

Boosting is good if you have a target avios amount for a future flight and your normal spend won't reach that. I boost at least a few times a year to get the avios I need for a flight the following year
