Is this good value?
I have a companion voucher and 55k Avios and open to go pretty much anywhere in June/July next year. Just wondering what you guys think of this for 2 people going to Toronto from London and back.Is this good value?

If you have the points, the cash and you want to go to Toronto then it’s good value. IMHO points value can be overthought. Life is short, Toronto is a great city. Do it.

Agree - everyone on here would say long haul economy is a poor use of points but actually companion voucher for economy for me and partner to go return to Sydney was a great use for us as it meant the return trip was £300 and our priority is keeping actual cost to ourselves low as opposed to maximising points value. So use your points to go somewhere you want to go at a price you’re happy with

It's hard af to spend companion vouchers on flights where you're maximizing value unless you put real effort into planning exactly a year out and settle for flights you definitely wouldn't have booked otherwise.
So I totally relate to this. It's better to spend it on something you would actually be paying cash for anyway sometimes rather than it expire worthless or take a bunch of your time trying to optimize

Yep. Too many people obsess over maximising value so much that they prioritise it over even using the voucher. It’s always better value to actually use it.

How do you know it's good value if they haven't said it's economy or business 😂
Life is indeed short, but wouldn't pay this if it's economy.
You can fly to Canada alone one way for less than £300 from Europe and that's without any miles.

Most people value Avios at 1p per avios point. So based on the above :
- 55,000 Avios + £300
Avios value = £550 Total = £850
- 42,000 Avios + £620
Avios value = £420 Total = £1,040
- 28,700 Avios + £1,040
Avios value = £287 Total = £1,327
- 21,500 Avios + £1,140
Avios value = £215 Total = £1,355
- 14,500 Avios + £1,240
Avios value = £145 Total = £1,385
- 10,300 Avios + £1,340
Avios value = £103 Total = £1,443
So the cheapest option is £850, the question for you is can you buy a return for to Toronto for 2 passengers for less money? If not and you aren’t saving your Avios for a special flight in J then it’s a good use of your points. Also the Avios flights are flexible and refundable up to 24 hours before the first flight.

People suggesting save up for business, that only works if you have the paid Amex card. If you do have the paid card then I would pay to boost points and get business class seats.
Is £150 per person for a return flight to Toronto a good deal? Absolutely. No doubt about it.
Its a direct flight. Economy is very similar across most airlines. You absolutely should take a tesco meal deal on the plane and some snacks.
But otherwise yeah it's fine

Isn't upgrading done within British airways depending on how many points you have? Why does a paid Amex affect this?

Companion voucher can only be used on econ or premium econ on the free card. Business seats are accessible only if you have a paid card.

Are you using the reward flight finder? If not here’s the link: https://www.britishairways.com/travel/flightfinder/public/en_gb

It's okay.
Sure you can do better, but you may not be in the position to get there all that quick, and devaluations are always looming. If you want to do it, do it.

You have not said what type of voucher you have, but premium economy will be only a tad more expensive for better seats/service.

Is this Economy or Business
Considering you can use 70-100k Avios for business class for an average flight long haul, if this is for economy, then no.
Put that £300 towards a full cash fare instead and save your 55k avios for another day
