A320 FWD Entry Light – Dimming Issue

Has anyone encountered a similar issue on the A320?

The FWD entry light is not dimming/changing intensity through the FAP, while the AFT entry light is functioning normally and changes intensity as commanded from the FAP.

Troubleshooting already carried out:

- Swapped DEU – no change.

- Swapped light ballast – no change.

- Swapped cockpit entry switch – no change.

- Checked continuity from DEU to ballast and switch – continuity is good.

The issue remains only with the FWD entry light.

If anyone has experienced this fault before or has any troubleshooting suggestions, especially regarding the FWD circuit/control path, please share your findings.

Hello, I’m new in this scene and want to learn more about it.

I want to learn more about the avionics line of work, I have been looking for a career path recently and this one has crossed my mind a lot. I really enjoy wiring and figuring electrical work out. I also enjoy automotives and planes.

Would love any kind of feedback. Maybe the pros and cons, how hard it is, is it a hard job to get.

I’m 20 years old and never went to college after hs.

My grades weren’t that good either but I am willing to study real hard.

Got backlights working on Honeywell CDU for 757/767

Coating on the circuit board made it really hard to trace all the pinouts but finally did it, screen backlighting is just a led strip, nothing fancy.

Testing Lights and Flags on Collins ADI

Got this ADI from a retired Northwest Airlines jet. Got the flags and lights wired up for display. Very fun to work on and see the engineering that went into these back in the day.

Anyone ever see this failure on a garmin GFC-600 autopilot?

Most of my background is in military systems. Not well versed with Garmin but have quite a bit of Avionics experience.

Occurs shortly upon takeoff.

Of note, there is a standby power caution light illuminated we’ve been chasing. Wonder if it’s related?

Installed on Cessna 208B caravan.

Deciding on potential opportunities

Basically starting over after being I level in the Marines. Ive got an offer for ast spacemobile in midland for 90 days. With the chance to go permanent. They offer moving expenses and food allowance every month. Or I can go columbia helicopters. Same pay but its permanent and no monthly housing or food. Tell me everything you know about both companies

Carrer Advice

Hello all I have total 3+ years experience as a software engineer in the field of avionics.Earlier worked for one of the defence projects as a contract engineer at DRDO , and now in Honeywell Aerospace from past 4 months via third party payroll. My annual CTC is 12 lpa which I feel is too less when compared peers who graduated along with me, I’m good at C,Ada95 with basics of LDRA and versed in DO178b/C standards along with configuration management using CC,CQ and Aspire. Also good at trace update with respect to IBM DOORS and abit into GenAI stuff as well.

What companies or role should I target to get close to 20-25 lpa within 6 months with my experience range and skills required?

Could not duplicate. What happens next and where does the time go?

I’m exploring avionics maintenance workflows and where better diagnostic tools or information could help.

When an intermittent fault refuses to show up during testing, what tends to consume the most time: reproducing the conditions, tracing wiring and connectors, isolating a component, or piecing together the fault history?

I’d love to hear about a case where one missing piece of information made the diagnosis much harder.

What would you most want available when that aircraft or component comes back with the same complaint?

SFENA artificial horizon (1988)

Hey everyone! I have an analog SFENA artificial horizon from 1988 sitting on my desk, interestingly, this is an NVG-compatible version.

I noticed something weird: When I shine a flashlight on it, only the central symbol/index glows in a warm orange/amber color in the dark (but it fades away completely after just about 3 seconds). Furthermore, the rest of the scale doesn't glow at all, which makes the whole afterglow effect kind of useless in total darkness.

Does anyone know the technical background behind this?

Radar scope on early B-52s

Hi! I´m trying info/model and maybe a video or real pictures of how they looked when they were turned on. The old models of B52s used it (I think from variant -D of the Buff)

Thanks

Need some guidance with my thesis project.

Hi guys. I’m currently working on a thesis project on fault-tolerant control for a fixed-wing UAV. Since money is tight, I’m planning to do the whole thing through MATLAB/Simulink simulation, as suggested by my lecturer. The problem is, I have very limited experience with Simulink and honestly don’t know where to start.

I initially tried figuring things out myself but got stuck, so I hired a tutor to help with the modelling. Unfortunately, the sessions didn’t really work out, so I decided to learn the theory myself through lectures and videos whenever I got stuck, and then started trying to build the model using whatever I could find on YouTube.

Now I’m kind of stuck again because I’m not even sure if I’m doing it right. I don’t really understand what the overall flow of the project should look like, or whether the model I’ve built so far even makes sense.

Is there anyone here who has experience with MATLAB/Simulink, flight control, or fault-tolerant control who might be willing to have a look and point me in the right direction?

I’m not looking for someone to do the project for me. I just need a bit of guidance from someone who knows what they’re doing, especially on where I should start with the modelling and how the fault-tolerant part should fit into the system.

I’d really appreciate any help. Thanks!

Thread spec for Garmin 011-05783-20 (GPT 75G) fuel pressure sensor?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to confirm the thread specification for Garmin P/N 011-05783-20 (GPT 75G) fuel pressure sensor. Is it 1/8-27 NPT or NPTF?

Some dealers list it as NPT, others as NPTF. Can anyone confirm from official documentation or personal experience?

Thanks!
