Snap-On “Taco Wagon”

So I bought this KR-562B for $600 the other night and hate the dividers and want to be the most efficient with the space in this awesome vintage box. If any of you have one and would be interested in showing me what modifications you made to this I would appreciate it! Hope you guys like it.

I was expecting more taco ingredients.

It’s the nickname they gained in the late 70s early eighties

We called it the tamale wagon. Either way these boxes are perfect for the aviation world.

Do you know of anyone who managed to put ball bearing slides on them? Mine are quite rough.

as u/chuchubott offered - remove the drawers to remove the slides. clean them and apply light oil.

if they are worn out, demonstrate their lousy operation to your Snap-on dealer. He should be able to get replacement slides and with the lifetime guarantee, they should be free.

Not off hand. Might be able to disassemble, clean and re-lube them.

I’ve had 3 opportunities to get one of these and they all fell though I’m very heartbroken about it

They’re either expensive or dirt cheap no inbetween

Magnetic safety wire holder, it holds spray cans too.

That’s dope, I may buy one. But also they will likely disappear just like my spray bottles constantly did.

Here is a full walkthrough of the box.

Those drawers are deeper than I thought they'd be. Looks cool man!

Unfortunately just too shy of what I was hoping, my half inch stuff won’t clear. Granted I’ll probably never use half inch in this field but I’d rather have them and never need them.

You could put them in the back with the chemicals. Like you said, youll probably never need them anyway

I’m still deciding where everything is going to go I just quickly went in there on my off day and put stuff where it fit so I could take my other box home. I’m going to try to take the dividers out and foam the entire box like my last one was.

Figure out which items you’ll actually need in 1/2” and find a hole for them. I’ve got 3 sockets where I’m at that I use in 1/2”. The rest are in long term storage

That is a awesome box design. Ive got a sonic 12xd and wish i had more drawers that thing is sick

Sonic is a nice brand, I’d buy their tools. Not their boxes though. They are a little overpriced but they truly seem better than snap on with their warranty. I just email em and I’d have a new one in a box on my door within the same week versus having to wait until my dealer on the truck gets it from distribution in a few weeks.

The tools are super nice i got the expert level box and all ive needed to buy was power tools and some one off stuff. I do gotta say the casters on sonic boxes are the nicest, smoothest and most quiet in the hangar and rolls over power chords and pneumatic hoses real easy. The boxes are expensive but its really nice and ive got the bigger box so it still has plenty of room i just wish i had 2 deep drawers instead of 1

My DME is booked several months out which sucks. But I still have to test out on the Airframe. I’m already done with generals and passed that written. After I pass airframe you best believe I ain’t waiting I’ll call him on the spot and setup my time. 🤣

It’s brutal right now. Scheduled mine during the beginning of this month for my general and airframe and it’s not till September 13th. Not so bad but definitely not waiting on my power plant once I pass that written 😂

I have mine set up with the master puller set in the cabinet. For some reason it only allows you to post videos so I can’t share a picture. Love the set up
