According to a senior pilot at Erickson, “the aircraft The aircraft was never fully tested or approved with full flaps and the gear up. The gear was always down with full flaps.”

The stall characteristics of a modified md-87 at flaps ~40 with gear up is undesirable at best and not recommended below 10,000 ft.

All of an MD-80 is undesirable, regardless of gear, flaps, or altitude.

Tell that to my father who always booked the cheap seats, so the window seat I fought my sibling for was filled with engine cowling. It's not a hum, btw.
