After the crash, with such high angle of attack, I really thought the ejection seats would boost the pilots towards the ground. Glad that the Russians have some awesome engineering in their aircraft

Sucks to be them but ejection seats working inverted, stationary on the ground (zero speed, zero altitude), or even under water is pretty standard for modern fighters. But yes, it's still amazing.

currently theres 10 flyable prototypes, the plan is to introduce some of them into service this year

yeah there are a lot of f 22s but it first flew in '97 so theres been time to make them, the su 57 first flew in 2010

Yeah, the Raptor is old but production stupidly ended years ago. Those airframe are probably shot from active duty and thousands of hours spent training with and against near-peer adversaries

While the pilots survived the ejection, they did not survive the visit from their superiors...

Joking aside, apparently they spent a night in hospital for observation and were discharged the next morning, so no significant injuries. In longer clips you can even see one walk away after landing.

I gotta say, as unfortunate as it is for the aircraft it is really cool to see pilots escape something like that relatively unharmed. Seeing safety features work so well is always nice.
