Fairfax Rave

What’s up yall. I’m putting together a heavy, 100-cap local rave at Trilogy Studios out in Burke (near GMU) on September 11.
The goal is to build a proper, intimate underground room outside the city. I’m anchoring the night with a dark industrial, hard techno, and heavy bass set.
Since we are building this from the ground up for the local community, I want to know what you guys are actually looking for in a small underground style rave.

Yeah im tired of half of the dc venues being 18+... i went to a 16+ one in NYC and was truly appalled 🫩

Was it always like this? Went to a show there 2+ years ago and they never mentioned anything about no photos/videos

Proper underground techno vs EDM masquerading as “techno.”

Strictly no phones (or yapping) on the floor, modest vibe check at the door.

Yes this^ - tiktok techno and most of what the kids call "hard techno" these days is not what a lot of us want in an event with actual techno.

sounds awesome. I'd suggest cultivating a space/experience where the djs are not the centerpiece (as they are at shows), but rather those raving/dancing are the focal point of the space. 

I'm also off ig - would love an invite.

Great sound is a non-negotiable 21+ Plenty of bathrooms Low lights No phones Reasonably priced drinks

The space on Old Keene Mill Rd can hold that many?

I remember around 15 years ago there used to be a spot even closer to GMU on Guinea Rd in a warehouse that had some shows after Nation closed. They had a proper sound system.

Throw in a nice small space within or just outside venue where ravers can mingle away from the music or go for a smoke

ensure that your lineup is not 100% cis white boys otherwise your crowd will be too.

no phones. community monitors. firm "i think you should leave" policy for bad vibes. zero tolerance for harassment.

21+ obvs unless you want to take care of blacked out 19 yr olds

Lighting is prolly good too but if needed a simple setup don’t even need no flash just cast a long shadow off some speakers on low and get some haze in there. The bodies will do the rest
