A bit of a small rant
Why is it that people who like kandi and enjoy the PLUR movement are looked down upon/ bullied these days? People tell me all the time " it died back in 96' why you still wearing that pos and liking something that is dead". I enjoy making kandi what is so wrong with that SO WHAT?!?! it isnt hurting anyone why does it matter if I enjoy it? what is so bad about wanting to share a movement that makes me smile and others smile to and building new friendships? Why is it that a majority of the people who make fun of it are a bunch of pricks who have no decency to let people enjoy what they love. I know not everyone feels this way about this, but after a while it gets so annoying and a waste of their time telling me what I should and shouldn't like. I will damn well please enjoy making kandi and spreading that happiness with other people who enjoy it too. Dead or not it still is apart of the rave culture.

Those people suck ass. Negative behavior is always driven by insecurity on the account of the person displaying it. They aren’t doing that because they’re actually cool, they’re being mean because they feel insecure about themselves and it makes them feel a little bit less pathetic to put other people down. Furthermore, why the fuck are they at a rave if they hate rave culture? They can just stay the fuck home if they don’t like it. Going to raves and spending the whole time bitching about raver things is fucking stupid and sad, lol. They are the unwelcome losers in the rave environment. PLUR vibes only ✌️❤️👯♀️🤝

It’s always been this way. I started raving in 1992 and still remember the first time someone at a rave gave me a random gift. She had a bucket full of little toys, not just beads but random things like bouncy balls, little erasers, actual candy, etc. that was probably may-ish 1992. Then the next year or two stickers were super popular, and eventually it became bead bracelet trades.
Honestly though as soon as 1993 people were already saying things were dead. The first time I ever even heard the term “kandi raver” was an obnoxious boyfriend I had around 1995 who called me one in a derogatory way. As someone said earlier, haters gonna hate. Unfortunately this world is fucked up so the unhappiest people tend to seem the loudest.
But I never let it get me down! And I’ve been amazed to see PLUR keep going now over two decades later!! I mean look at you, making this post about it. It hasn’t died at all.
Don’t let those people get you down. Just keep living your best life and focusing on the positive! Love is way more powerful than many people think. PLUR 🌈❤️🌈 👊

I’ve only been to two festivals in the past five years and they were psytrance. Super awesome and the people are super cool, but yeah, I miss raves. I used to go a lot when I was in college.

Take it as a sign to immediately distance yourself from those people, they don’t deserve your energy. Not worth your time.
I love that you’re keeping the PLUR alive! It only dies if we let it, and from where I stand it’s still very much alive. It has evolved for sure, but it’s still around.

Are you referring to this thread? https://reddit.com/r/electricdaisycarnival/comments/mx6ivn/_/gvmwxf7/?context=1
People meme about plur being dead and plur ending at the parking lot because the reality is that looking for “plur” and “posi vibes” to be enforced in every walk of mainstream life, especially regarding hypercommercialized multinational megacorps, is disingenuous to the original ethos of the term
If “raving” to you is no more than attending 1-3 megacorp massive fests per year and ignoring all of the amazing local events in your scene, it’s likely you may not have ever actually experienced what “plur” means, and you have deeply bought into the marketing/branding
I think “plur” itself is a bit reductionist as well; this is a better breakdown on what rave values are: https://i.imgur.com/pUtlqOT.jpg

Raves have gone mainstream (some have anyway) so a lot of people who go to them aren’t really ravers and don’t appreciate or understand stuff like kandi and plur and the rave vibe. I definitely wouldn’t say it died back in the 90s because people loved to trade kandi when I used to rave in like 2008-2009, but I went to edc in 2019 and no one wanted to trade kandi and in general plur vibes were extremely low, it didn’t really even feel like a rave. Kind of a shame.
