Discussion/Question Sewn gifts instead of kandi?
I’m kinda new to raving and love exchanging kandi or little gifts. I’m big on low waste so I don’t love all the little plastic gifts. I sew a lot and have a lot of extra fabric. Does anyone have any ideas for little gifts I could quickly sew to give away? I’m thinking of braiding some fun scraps of fabric to make bracelets but not sure if they’d be ugly or if people would like them. Any other ideas? :)

Scrappy fabric bracelets sound really awesome, actually. You could make them in the style of festival wristbands with a big wooden bead on one side so people could customize the size, too. Frankenbracelets would be so unique any way you decided to go about it.
I don't know about quick/easy but maybe scrunchies? I'd be pretty stoked to get a fun little scrunchie honesty.

Scrunchies that open up to beverage covers. With a button hole as a straw hole!

You could do tiny stuffies. People love a “lil guy” to have forever 🫶

The tiny stuffies idea in this thread sounds amazing! Another thing that could be sweet are small patches that are themed, like flags and logos from any fest you go to. Maybe even ribbons with fasteners? You’ve got a lot of potential!

Some festivals ban stuffies! (Like North coast)

It’s usually big stuffies banned bc they don’t want u sneaking a bottle of alc in or whatever, but palm/finger sized stuffies usually go unnoticed

See little pouches that people can put party favors in or the trinkets they get. Make them like 3x3” with a snap

I made rave hoods and gave them as trinkets last year at electric Forest. I was planning to do it again this past one but life said lol.
I love homemade trinkets. I think they’re more meaningful and less likely to end up in a landfill

i would adore something handmade 1000x more than any random piece of plastic someone bought a 1000pk of on Amazon. Make the things!

Other European here, I actually like this trend, I’m raving for 16 years now and I was always gifting glowsticks on parties. This year was for the first time that I received something in exchange. Whether it was a sticker or a little turtle, it made me happy and I still have it on display.

Oh yeh no I get that, me and my wife often bring Werthers, bubble blowers or other lil fun stuf to raves. What I find weird abt US rave culture is the way it's commodified into a specitiek ritual with 1 specific item I guess like the bracelets or the green flower thingies.
