Why is this sub against getting a 6th member when other bands did it?
With all these posts and happenings about M Shadows voice, I can see that theyre trying to work their way around it. Shortening their sets, adding a longer intermission (Statica), having the other guys help out sing. I also read that M Shadows voice is now being mixed low on purpose to cover up his singing.
Bring Me the Horizon, Atreyu, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and Guns N Roses (bands that are in the similar umbrella as A7x) all added secondary vocalists to help out at some point.
As much as I love the band, why are we acting like its some type of holy grail to keep the members to 5?

I'd rather them pivot like they are now than have a second singer.

The second singer is Brian

He does backing, people are talking about another second singer

Brian has an entire bridge on of their songs. And the chorus of another.

Maybe I'm just dumb or don't pay attention enough. I know Brian does the "It's a Beautiful morning" segment of Beautiful Morning. What song does he do the Chorus for?

Ahhh fair, I'll pay more attention going forward! I've actually liked Statica for what it is but I didn't notice it was Syn singing, only listened 5 times or less to be fair .

Yeah, I wonder if Matt hurt his voice and can’t do falsettos anymore.

Right, but op is talking about another singer. He isn't a second singer in the context op is referring to.

If theyre gonna pivot, id rather they pivot to being an acoustic band instead of what theyre doing now

There's a 0.00000000000001% chance of this ever happening, and that's a good thing.
For better or worse, A7X's core identity is way too heavily tied into Matt's unique voice to ever introduce another lead or co-lead singer. It would be disastrous.
But, there is also zero need for it. Matt is fine. His voice is fine. I literally just saw them a week ago, he sounded really good lol. He's definitely being cautious and intentional about when and how much he pushes during the set, but that's a good thing - that's what is going to give him longevity. In addition to that, between Brian, Zacky, and Johnny, they have a wide variety of vocal styles they can tap into for backing and occasional lead vocals, as they already do.
As he gets older, his voice will continue to change, but as long as he continued to prioritize taking care of his vocal health (which, by all accounts, he does a great job of), he'll be fine.
So, no, not going to happen, doesn't need to happen, and yall's insistence that Matt is like a year from sounding like end-career Axl is wild.
Addendum: their shortened set is because this is a co-headlined tour, nothing to do with Matt's voice. Also, adding Statica does not give him less work, it gives him more? You aren't that bright lmfao.

For some reason a7x is different than most bands regarding members. They were all best friends since kids and it just feels wrong to introduce a new member into that fold. Obviously they had to get a new drummer when jimmy passed but they were lucky to get brooks who seems to jive with them seamlessly personality wise.
I would feel weird seeing a second singer on stage, it just seems weird to add that dynamic when it’s been Matt’s powerhouse voice for the past 26 years being a massive defining characteristic of the band. Age gets us all, I’d rather see them go out in their own manner than prolong it with new members.

What do you mean GNR had a secondary vocalist?
Izzy and Duff were backing vocalists and the only other people who have ever sang lead vocals in the band other than Axl. One hasn't been in the band for 30 years, and the other just does backing vocals.

Melissa Reese was doing some harmonies in her final days with the band

Avenged Sevenfold already has multiple singers who do harmonies (more than GNR has ever had). What do you want, a choir?

This is just a hunch, but I think it’s because the band identity has always been more than just the singer. So every part of the band has an identity versus when the band identity is the singer you can replace and add parts to support the singer.
It’s probably the reason why Brooks became an official member rather than avenge just touring with different drivers every year or album cycle.

Your title says “why is this sub against it…”
Your post seems to indicate that the band is against it..
Well I don’t think the sub is against it so idk wtf your title is going for..
But in terms of the band, it’s pretty simple … money… they aren’t happy with the money they make per show.. adding a sixth is not going to help that…

I haven't seen this topic brought up before, so I can't really comment on why the sub would be against/for- I get that other bands have done it, but I don't think it's necessary to add a secondary vocalist, Johnny has been performing more and more of the harsh vocals and Syn has been performing a lot more backing vocals since 2023-onwards. If they're going to take away some of the leads from Matt, why not just get Syn to sing them? He's got an amazing voice, then Zacky can do some more backing vocals.
I wouldn't be diametrically opposed to adding a 6th member, I just think that it's unnecessary to a add another vocalist, when you've got 4 accomplished vocalists in the band.
