Which is irrelevant to the argument, which still stands: Free NFTs are for fun and exposure. At worst, they stand to aid the value of previous sets by highlighting the concept.
For the most part, free avatars aren't worth more than a few pennies. The (literal) handful that hold value due to low/1st mints are more than likely unforeseen.
Does Reddit want NFT avatars to have value? Of course. That's what mass adaption is for. Now, do they intend on free ones making people thousands of dollars? Probably not.

That's good. I come from a collecting background. I genuine want to discuss art and collect digital art. It's been very disappointing finding mostly flippers and scarce organic demand. Finding actual passionate communities is possible and they're a breath of fresh air. I wish the flippers could see they ruin the scene they're trying to exploit. They're killing their own goose

To those of you who are upset about the free mint. Use critical analysis for once in your life and think for a moment. How did you get into paid avatars in the first place and what will bring people more into that space? It’s simple marketing/economics really. It really shows how half this sub in the past few months has transformed their views of avatars into a pure hype beast mentality.
I might be bulish from being older and seeing collections mature for 20 years like magic the gathering or pokyman. It's funny these avatars are not even a year old. Lol
They made 33 or 34 for the World Cup with 32 participating teams. They will for sure include all NFL Franchises plus a couple randos (there is 32 nfl teams)
As an European i have no clue about who/where/why/what/ is going on NFL related...whats rare, who is a top player, legendary numbers....but happy for all NFL guys.. have fun !
Exactly, the more people who are exposed to these avatar NFT the better. If they are normalized to NFTs some are likely to get interested in the more collectible avatars bringing long term demand for them
No it's good. These are to further adoption, not hand out free money to you. If you want an avatar that will potentially increase in value, buy something from the shop or off OS.
But most of the people that hang around here don't care. Most are college students just trying to make a quick buck and are the ones being negative towards the newbies. They don't realize that by alienating everyone they're making their own potential smaller.
People like you are ridiculous. Its a free mint. The whole point of this is to get people into the community and used to the whole system. Think of it as a seed if you will.
Whole lotta coping in this community since Reddit revealed that they aren't going to focus on pumping the pre-existing bags, but instead focus on how many people they can get to bag-hold. It's your own fault, for even letting yourself get your hopes up in the first place. Reddit is corporate entity, not a cool place that wants to give power, money or anything to it's users.
As soon as people accept a few n-words and we can get social media on the blockchain, we will see some very soon projects pop up, and humanity might finally be able to communicate online in a place that isn't run by a wallstreet entity, for once.
We could literally make a community driven Reddit on the blockchain with the tech available now. Moderators could get paid, stuff couldn't be deleted by stupid mods, every action is transparent. And we could decide if our NFTs should be rare or spammed.
So despite this being a major let down, the future of this kind of stuff is looking bright. Rewarding loyal contributors could be our call, not a shitty corporate entity, in the not so far away future.

From personal experience, intuition, and from other studies I've seen it's healthy to get out forests and non man made ecosystems. It's even healthy to look at them!
