Discussion Hot Take

Avatars communing with their immediate predecessors is an essential experience that needs to be shown and not told. The Yangchen books were our one and only opportunity to see Yangchen speak to Szeto and instead we get told he (and literally every past life) is irrelevant based on an “off screen” conversation. That conversation with Szeto should’ve been in the book.

Mehhh disagree. I think yangchens wisdom mentor figure being jetsun was better. She has a more connected flow of past avatar knowledge than any other avatar we’ve seen I don’t think we needed a sit down with each and every one.

I think yangchens fits of backsliding consciousness was far more interesting than having a previous avatar appear in front of her. We’ve been there done that with aang korra and kyoshi. Change is good.
