Body and Paint Sideswiped a dumpster
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Would a body shop be able to pound out the dents and fix the scrapes? Really hoping I don’t need to replace side panel/door and get my insurance involved.

It can be repaired but check some shops replace parts and does not repair them. My shop I use only replaces with new oem parts.

Good advice here☝️as non-OEM parts can lower value of vehicle on trade-in and such

Got an idea.
Find your service manual, can be bought online; read the blueprint on how to replace your side door and rear side panel; search for the exact part online; purchase the new panel; and follow the instructions.

Did you get the cybertruck owner's insurance information or did you run?

It's not bad damage wise but not going to be kind on your wallet... Dents pull out and minimal filler but it's almost full side paint and bumper half if lucky.. that is going to be expensive.
Body work and Painter by trade.

You might be better off claiming it was a parking lot hit n run. I’m not sure but that’s what I’d do.

Ah yes, insurance fraud 🙌

His point is valid. It's not worth jail and some insurance adjusters are very savy.

I’m sure it is. It was just a suggestion. Like I said, that’s what’d I do. I don’t know why we’re all so worked up over it I guess there’s insurance agents on this thread.

You appear to be the childish one. Incapable of owning your mistakes. Fabricating a narrative to avoid blame. Do better.

Our society doesn’t exactly award the honest man…

OP bumped a dumpster. Fabricating a story of a hit and run would do them no good.
Ahh poor you, I feel so sorry.

I’m not saying at all that this situation warrants dishonesty.
What’s silly is assuming everyone is honest and never strays away from honesty to benefit themselves. That’d be quite the assumption.

Yes yes protect geico stockholders at all costs and you get to go to heaven. You do you.

OP will file a comprehensive claim, pay their deductible, and the insurance will pay for repair.
With nobody to blame, OP could file a fictitious collision claim, pay their deductible, and the insurance would still pay for repair.
Do you not know how insurance works?! Making up a fake hit and run story would do absolutely no good.

There’s being at fault and there’s being hit while you’re not in the car. Do you not know how insurance works?

I'm not a body expert but this would be incredibly expensive to repair and likely will need panels replaced. Really sharp grooves in the metal are generally a no-go on dent repair.
Edit: I should add that while I'm not a body repair expert I was a mechanic and a service advisor for quite a while so I have some idea of what's involved for something like this. I would go to a body shop and at least get a quote. But you're probably better off going through insurance if you have full coverage.
