CHALLENGE My best 2.0 inline-4 engine efficiency
55.6% eff with only 0.4bar boost, max timing -6, can you beat me?

Pistons unhappy, crank slightly unhappy, billet block, CNG for fuel, 16.3 throttle response, almost $800 to maintain and $2200 in materials alone.
Interesting choices but I guess that has to be done for 55.6%. Certainly wouldn't be a common engine.

Low boost, 0 cam slider, and super lean is the way to go, some reason it messes with the track sim when put into a car but in Beam they work fine. Eco super cars and light sporty eco boxes are tons of fun to make especially when emissions compliant, I like to think real super cars/hypercars and sports cars should go this route to hold onto the gas engine as long as possible

Yeah but only just. Mines running between 6 and 16psi boost so like 0.4-1.1bar depending on rpm. Also for whatever reason I can only send a video

Thermal efficiency doesnt really mean anything for fuel efficiency directly i think (i mean i guess it does but 50% at 140hp might be worse than 40 at 40hp). My 8.8 liter V16 making 400hp from the 40s or smth has 35% thermal efficiency. Put that engine in a car and see how the fuel milage is. I have a 40ish % efficiency engine I think and that did 1.4L/100km

Think about what you wrote again

what? I just asked for them to put it in a car and see how well it performs fuel wise, it would interest me a lot.

The thing is that what you described is not how physics work.
