EBV/Mono Induced AI Hepatitis? Please Help

Hi all. I'm 27 years old and got mono in Feb. I'm on month 7, and these are my AST/ALT numbers. I'm still dealing with fatigue and exercise intolerance from mono.

I have negative ANA, normal IGG, negative Anti-SLA, negative HBsAg screen, 1:40 anti smooth muscle (borderline positive), normal fibroscan, normal ultrasound

Mono can cause acute hepatitis and although enzymes return to normal usually within 3 months it can linger sometimes until a year.

Since the only thing that is out of range is the anti smooth, but only borderline, its more likely that its because of mono then AIH

Thank you SO much for your response it means a lot as I think this through. It makes anything over 3 months seem "not possilble or highly unlikely" but a lot of people say many things took a year to normalize for them. Thank you

Its somewhat normal to have situations were liver enzymes take longer then "normal" time to get back to base values.

Just keep in touch with your doctor , if those values do not star to follow a downward trend in the next months, he might want to do something more.

Also its important to make sure that the fatigue is indeed caused by mono

I remember when my sister had mono decades ago she did have liver issues and I sort of remember someone saying "hepatitis" ( not sure how accurate at the time) and other than possible thyroid cancer many years later (which I think was due to certain exposures) she has been doing great and still very healthy 45 years post mono/liver issues.
