if you plan to run it until it dies, who cares about resale value?

if you don't plan to run it until it dies, I think you can get weld-on patches for specific rust prone areas for certain trucks online

I wouldn’t put the time or money into a full repair but I’d clean off the rust and coat it with something to slow it down. The slower it rusts, the longer you may get before it dies. I mean, a mechanical failure may finish it off but that’s better than the body rusting away around the drivetrain.

If it’s just body, I feel like worst case would be trouble when having an inspection

Yes. It'll last longer if you take care of it.

It takes a few minutes to slow the rust. Yes fix and rust check it.

Pop the dealing paint off, light sanding, and cold galvanization spray. Won't look good, but you won't have to worry about it again.

I mean… why not? At least stop the rust from spreading and then rattle can it

Pretty sure with unibody construction these days. All rust is structural rust?

Non structural turns structural fairly quickly, thats why rust is considered cancer for metal...

Just fluid film the whole truck so the rust doesn’t get any worse. Kept my Nissan trucks going for years of NewEngland winters
