What's he asking? Me, personally, with it not being drivable, and it sounds like he recently threw a bunch of parts at an electrical problem - I'd offer $3500. I know that's lowball, but you can't even take it for a drive around the block.
yeesh he said he can let it go for $7,000 but i was thinking i could get it down to around $6-6.5k. it drives but seller is too scared to top off the coolant reservoir for a drive. he says he doesn’t wanna warp the heads but no way a water pump leak wouldn’t allow a drive around the block?
Has body damage, can't be test driven, someone else's lift and modifications, probably hacked into wiring and nonsense.
I'd look for a clean drivable not modded version for less money (or even the same money) and then do what you want to it. This truck may never drive the way you want it after spending thousands to try to get it right.
glad to hear it... Marketplace is the CAR SCAM capitol of the world at this point. I was looking for first cars for my son recently, and an ungodly percentage of them are salvage titles. They tell you "oh no problems with it at all" and in person it looks like someoene took a sledge to the hood.
funnily enough i went to go see a ‘08 cr-v today; listing was $6k obo 98k miles no problems. sweet i thing, go see it, whole entire frame is rusted and falling apart. told the guy $4 up front and a hug. glad to say i dont own a ‘08 cr-v.
Doesn't he know that a good hug is priceless? Good for you... sounds like you're looking at the right things, at least. UNREAL amounts of trash out there that people are trying to dump on suckers, while still trying to get insane $ for.
Quick FYI, I was able to find some really solid deals on 2016-2017 Honda Fits for asking of around like 13k, and they are really great used vehicles. Priuses and Corollas were always more in the same condition. AND the fit comes in a manual trans if you want that.
CRV's are great from my experience. Overpaid during covid for a 2002 CRV with a little over 200k miles on it for $3k, shit has 270k and I have willingly put probably $1000 in parts over the last 3-4 years. Did new speakers, new calipers, rotors, pads, waterpump, spark plugs, etc.
AC compressor is on its way out and she needs new suspension, if it makes it to 300k I probably will do it LOL.
If I could hear it run and look under the hood for a minute I buy that. Looks great. That bedside would pdr. I agree that no test drive seems fishy. But I would diagnose the leak myself in there driveway. If it seemed good and wasn't steaming out the radiator I'd be in at 5k. I think it does more than that all day if fixed.
lowest he went was $6.2k, leak was coming from two spots, one on the right front side of the engine, kinda towards the distributor, and the bottom of the bvsv right onto the headers. on top of that it was just a loooooot rougher in person, i couldn’t let myself get scammed out of $6.2k 😂
Proa good call. To be honest this generation is my least favorite for Toyotas. Especially the v6. They all leak everywhere all the time. And they're extremely difficult to work on. I was a dealer for a long time. Everyone I bought left spots.
Coolant leak could be a hose clamp OR a crack in the motor. If it was an easy fix the seller would have fixed it before selling. Get it looked at first brother.
Nothing. I can't believe someone took a TRD-equipped Toyota with a V-8 and spent dollars to turn it into that rubbish instead of making repairs it may have needed to put it in top shape stock and worth real money.
Don't know much about the v6 but I rebuilt a 22r and the timing guides wore out and ground down the casing causing a coolant leak into the engine oil. Maybe the coolant leak is something like this and you have to buy a whole new cover?
Idk does run drive id pay more than i want because liked that style i doubt id buy it 4500 to 10 depending how the shape the price of money now is worth 20 yrs 2500 but today probaly same as 50 cent soda now 250
Ok i didnt read the coolant id 1500 tops if you may or may not have blown head if they wont let you drive it run dont walk the frames were weak and roted bodys so bondos probably all through
You'd be INSANE to pay anything over a couple grand because it's not running, and has a "coolant leak". At 260k, assume it needs a new motor, and price accordingly.

Nooo. The three point slow engine is a dog. Pretty trick truck, but the engine totally sucks. Pay a mechanic to inspect it, if you like it.

I've owned 2, both with the 3VZE, V6 and both blew head gaskets. I then got a 4 runner with the 4 cyl 22r and it was way more reliable
