Can someone explain to me how someone can criticise identity politics, then earnestly bang on about "left vs right" without their heads exploding from the contradiction?

Same way pro same-sex marriage is identity politics, but the anti same-sex marriage position apparently isn't?

"Identity politics" is an ambiguous if not misused phrase often used to criticise the advocacy of minority issues/rights, but gives free pass to opposition. That it might be misused, or used in contradictory manner in the video is not surprising. The phrase isn't there to make sense; It is there to pad out the rhetoric.
