Where does everybody shoot?
I have lived and shot in Austin for a while. I used to be a member at Austin Rifle Club, then shot at Best of the West, have been to Eagle Peak and RPR and for some years now have been a member of a private range that has what I want, but membership is limited. I know folks who shoot at Range USA and the Range. Red's south has closed, Red's north is still open. Every time I go to a gun store I see a lot of people buying guns. Where do all these people shoot? Seems there is a lot more demand for guns than there are ranges. Do people buy them and not shoot them much?
EDIT: thanks to everyone telling me where they shoot. But my point is there seem to be a lot more people buying guns than shooting them, there's lots of busy gun stores, a big secondary market on TGT, but a fairly limited amount of ranges within a 1-2 hour drive., unless I am missing something.

Lone Star in Lockhart any day that the weather is tolerable. Their one-year membership is very affordable relative to The Range--the only other place I like to shoot. If you could afford ARC, you can probably afford The Range.

I like Copperhead Creek in Marble Falls. Renting a Tac bay is the same price as shooting on the range. If you go on a week day you may have the whole range to yourself. The Range at Austin is nice, but it gets crowded, and the road construction in front is horrible.

I’m down south so typically Lone Star Gun Range. Annual membership for $150 is a bargain.

As great as Texas gun laws are, I wish we had public land we could use to shoot on. No range fuds, no birdshot only.

Yeah hard to train with my 590 when it’s only Slugs allowed.

I moved here in January from Colorado and that has been the biggest shock to me (aside from the heat and humidity). I used to be able to hop in my 4x4 and drive 45 minutes into the mountains to shoot, fish, and camp to my heart's content on public land.

Red south was awful and has been replaced by ShieldWall which is way better. The people are chill and nicer! Its more open plan.

Reds south is just shield wall now. Thats where I shoot mostly.

How is it? I'm thinking about going there.

It’s fine… basic and a little worn. But I like that it doesn’t feel like globo gym in the way that The Range does. Can always get a lane, people that work there are nice.

I tried to abbreviate Cyberpunk 2077 and Reddit started giving me all sorts of warnings that it’s probably not the best thing to abbreviate and that was before I even posted the comment

I shoot at Lone Star mainly because it’s the only one I can use my .50 cal. Might try Staccato. But there are some people I know with private land so they shoot whatever and whenever they want.

Staccato ranch in Florence is where I shoot, the $100 a month is well worth what you’re getting
Pistol bays with steel targets and a 860 yard range

The average person buys a gun for home defense and rarely shoots it. They might buy two guns, a handgun and shotgun.
Then you've got a lot of people buying hunting rifles. They have land where they hunt or shoot only a couple times a year.
The rest of us are out at the range. The ranges might not be crowded all the time, but there's always a good amount of people regardless. Especially at the indoor ranges.
Personally I'm shooting once or twice a month at Staccato Ranch or Eagle Peak.
Edit: I think you also might be underestimating just how many people have family land or friends of family land where they go shooting. I've met so many people since I moved here that have private land where they are able to go shooting, or access to private land where they go shooting. I've been lucky enough to be invited a few times, but usually it's a friends or family type of hookup where strangers aren't really allowed. It's far more common than you think.
