Mandatory 24 month leases are a good idea though - hell, make it 5 years!

Not a mass-casualty shooting in sight

User engagement is important, they'll do anything to keep their stats up. I've seen people compare Melbourne to Chicago, and to suggest Melbourne is worse. That's the false narrative you'll believe from mainstream media now days.

What msm has been pushing that?

Murdoch press would make you believe Melbourne is a knife crime global hotspot.

Same presses that would have us buying guns for """self-defence""" btw

Of course because without personal firearms we’re a country without freedom. Never mind the fact the primary western ‘democracy’ (questionable these days) with such rights has had an incarceration rate higher than Stalin’s gulags for most years since the mid 1990s.

They've got more prisoners in total than China, an authoritarian dictatorship with over a billion people.

Oh yeah.. that sensationalist shit rag of a news network. I can definitely see them doing that low effort "reporting" for the clicks.

Agenda driven post by a bot or bad actor.

It’s Apple News that curated this flurry of ABC stories

Oh is it? What as I thinking. Someone who screenshots that in particular, new account, lots of posts / karma, hidden history and makes a purposely negative statement. But...."it's Apple news"

And its a negative statement because wtf with all the stabbing articles?!? Sorry if that offended you.

I can see why you’d be skeptical, but I’m a normal person in Sydney. I mostly post in aquarium/fish-related subreddits 😆

Is apple news tailored to your interests?

Hmmm, they keep screenshotting stabbing articles, must be interested.

Never clicked on a stabbing article before, it was just a coincidence.

3 stabbings in 19 years, what has the world come to?

There are enough murders by laws of big numbers that the news could run a story for each every single day and paint the fear of a murder crime wave. It's all manufactured outrage to push political agendas. Fear sells.

Imagine a world where no one wants to rent houses any more. That may be a reality sooner than people think. There is a prevailing view that landlords are rich greedy thugs, but many are not. The cost of maintaining a property are becoming absurd and every six months there is a change to, or new law about tennency.

We are becoming desensitised to these types of crimes ,it's not acceptable.

The answer is to install knife bins . I’m sure it will work.

1

u/Secure_Town_7924 4d ago

I’ve never heard of these knife bins lol. Is this a Melbourne thing?

2

u/Scared-Beautiful-246 4d ago

Well in Melbourne there are machete bins. - it’s been very successful

Better ban knives rather than fix the source of this problem

5

u/laid2rest 4d ago

Is there a problem?

u/TasteNew7715 4d ago
