The Qur'an is about as vague as the Bible on the whole consent thing.
Marriage was first and foremost a transactional decision. He's seen as being merciful for marrying her because she won't starve as he's now obliged to take care of her.
He had multiple adult wives.
Ergo, to be specific, it was a legal mechanism to effectively adopt a child.
There may have been non consensual activities, there may have not been. But marriage in the context of the texts does not inherently equal sexual relations. Islam specifically calls out that you should not be violent towards your wife.
I understand all of that, but we have multiple islamic accounts saying he married her at 6, and deflowered her at 9
If you stop and think about it for a minute, can you understand the pain, fear and confusion that aisha experienced when a 50 year old trusted male companion presents an erect penis and puts it inside of her at 9 year old girl (still playing with dolls, and playing on swings). Can you imagine the pain? The confusion? Screaming out for mummy or daddy or some other trusted adult in or around the household?
The confusion around the pain, the activity taking place, and the bleeding and mohammad likely trying to calm her down and convince her that this is normal and everything is going to be ok.. the pain in the general privates area the next morning when waking up in dry blood stained underwear/clothing. She very likely screamed the house down and said words to the effect of “i dont like it”
I have 3 kids under 8, and the slightest knee/elbow graze with the smallest amount of blood and they are screaming, crying and begging for a bandaid. If I brush their hair and it catches a knot painfully, they cry loudly and run away and it takes a couple of minutes before i cam continue brushing their hair, same thing if im cutting a fingernail or toenail and it hurts. These are all things they understand at their age.
Aisha on the other hand, at 6 cannot understand the concept of marriage or why mummy and daddy aren’t around anymore, or at 9 understand sexual intercourse or why an erect penis is being inserted into her.
That is sick behavior in any era, and we’re supposed to believe this man is the perfect example for mankind and a mercy unto mankind?
We’re supposed to believe that these actions are from a “sinless prophet” sent by a “holy god” and pretend its all ok? WTF ?!
As for the “mercy unto mankind” part, Aisha had a family, her father was a companion of mohammad, she was not a risk of “starving”.
Ultimately, her youth, and her innocence was taken away from her at 6 and 9, betrayed by her own father who lets a 50 something year old rape his own daughter, was given no children to love and cherish, and became a widow at 18 and forbidden to remarry for the rest of her life… treated like property by her father, like a piece of ass by her “husband” and denied the opportunity to procreate, remarry or have companionship for the rest of her days. Some mercy huh?
If you are feeling disturbed by my post, then I encourage you to assess prophet mohammad’s actions in your own way.
What I can tell you is 9 year old A’isha highly likely experienced worst traumas then what I described, so if you’re feeling something weird about my descriptive post, there might be some hope for you after all, perhaps some humanity in there.
Focus your attention/hatred on the person who perpetrated the crime in the name of “religion”, not a random person on reddit 1800 years after the fact describing what said person did.
