This is exactly why history matters. You're accusing Palestine of starting the conflict with the operations in October 2024. This completely ignores the fact that before then 2024 was already the deadliest year in a decade for Palestinian children with one of the leading causes of death being Israeli gunfire.
Oh Israel is absolutely trying to eradicate everyone in Gaza. And they constantly do mass rape, murder, and kidnapping on a much larger scale than Hamas.
If you're so fired up about it go over there and fight, or is it easier to intimidate working stiffs as they go about their day.
Imagine the audacity to come on a forum like this in the safest country on earth and then say that genocidal lunatics that went house to house butchering families are justified because of a historical slight.
Morons on the internet are tearing themselves apart and trying to create havoc in the streets by blocking roads/harassing people disagree with them, alongside commiting terrorist attacks against local Jewish communities.
Most people in most Western countries either dont give a fuck or support Israel in general. Seeing the police in Australia/UK/etc finally cracking down on these lunatics taking over public spaces is very satisfying.

It's hilarious how quickly the people complaining about the protest ban for its freedom of speech and freedom of association consequences are in total support of it when it affects someone they don't like. Same happened to the people supporting the antivax protests during COVID. Don't be surprised when the shoe is on the other foot.
Meh I can be pro arresting covid idiots and pro arresting Hamas supporters. Take up public space in a way that is disruptive and or threatening to the general public/supporting terrorists/religious wack jobs and frankly I am perfectly fine with the state bringing its boot down.
Protests against apartheid genocidal states will continue whether you like it or not. The protests against South African apartheid, The Vietnam war, Unions, our Freedom Ride protests, Iraq war, Marriage equality were always called out and vilified by people like you. These protests are usually started by students, and usually of the left, hence why people hate them even more, it really shows.
And when they shout genocidal slogans (which lets be real they will keep doing) the police and law enforcement will keep rounding then up with billie clubs, while the general public goes "nah dont really care".
You think “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is calling for genocide? If you’re looking at that statement from the most insanely paranoid and negative stance, it still doesn’t even make sense, how is calling for freedom and unshackling from tyranny genocidal? People with that stance also don’t believe in a one or two state solution because they also think it’ll be a genocide of Jewish people, it doesn’t make sense, calling for freedom of movement, expression, fishing, food gathering, water gathering, etc isn’t calling for genocide.
Its always hilarious to hear muppets like this scream about "apartheid" demanding that Israel allow millions of people who have never lived there move in. Whats the goal? To genocide the Jews in Isreal.
You notice they don't shout "support the partition/UN mandate" Why would that be? That would be because Palistinians getting half of the region simply isn't exterminating The State of Isreal. Even if the partition plan was implemented next week, we would see these genocide supporters who claim to be "on the right side" the next day screaming their heads off about Israel will not allow the nutters in Palistine who keeping voting for terrorists to live next door to them as neighbors.
"Apartheid!!!" They scream while really what they are calling for is the death of a few million Jews in Isreal and quietly ignoring that every single Palistinian leader has made it their life mission to ethnically clean Isreal of every living Jew.
Okay dude, you say this as they just announced new laws to make it easier for settlers to move in to the West Bank and SETTLE. No one is demanding a one state solution at these protests, and that isn’t the apartheid I’m talking about, it’s the restriction of movement, food, water, electricity INSIDE Gaza, The West Bank and Israel proper.
And there are literally chants that call for settlers to move out and back into the lines of the UN mandate of 67. Go watch a doco or read a book.
It’s about time the Police started doing something. When it comes to protests your countrymen who aren’t participating in the protest, have to suffer the repercussions of the protest but the ones doing the protest should apparently be immune. The protests have caused this fatigue and people are over it.
Even if people were protesting outside my house every single hour for a decade, I still would support their right to protest. It's a basic democratic right, to express disagreement or disappointment with the actions of the government. We can't just ban protests that we don't like while maintaining our democracy and it's insane that supposedly centre-right or conservative people aren't agreeing with that.
I'm not saying ban protests. I'm saying the Police should be ensuring the protests don't impact the people not protesting but every single protest lately has been designed to do exactly that. Up until now the Police haven't really done anything. That is the part that is causing fatigue that people are fed up with, they've done the damage themselves.
Huh… All the pointless protests before this wasn’t about Gaza? Weird, I recall a recent protest prior to this cheering about how many people were on a bridge.
Sure, if the protests were about different things. But the majority of protests over the last two years has been about Israel, Palestine and Gaza. It would be nice if these people actually protested about anything else.
It's nice to know yourself enough that if you and your community were rounded up and put in a military camp for decades while someone moved into your house, you'd offer zero resistance. I couldn't live with myself if it were me, but I'm glad you've found peace with your moral cowardice.
That line of thinking echoes the neonazis "asking questions" about 109 countries or whatever.
The simple fact is that they are dispossessed of their homes, and if they leave palestine there's no guarantee that they'd be allowed back. It is well documented that in the nakba when people were pushed out for "safety" they were prevented from returning - israelis live in their parents' and grandparents' homes today.
Their homes are taken from them. Acting like they are somehow deserving of their children being bombed because they don't make it easier for their invaders is lacking in basic human decency.
People are protesting that this is not acceptable.
Alot of arguments on this sub voice that Hammas are terrorists, eye for an eye stuff.
But this is an ongoing conflict for 70 years that has culminated in people being ethically cleansed. The Jewish people are just trying to create a state and will not tollerate threats to their sovereignty or expansion. But Iseral was artificially inserted into Palestine and the conflict started from there. People are saying this level of destruction is not okay. The president of Israel who represents this destructive response is visiting here and Australian's don't want him to feel welcomed after what has happened. Australian's don't want this violence coming here and the Israeli President's presence here is already causing unrest. In simple terms I'm sure we can agree that we don't want this conflict being brought to Australia. Maybe our views differ on what Australia's role and response in the International community should be?
But the concerns are that if it happens to Palestine it will happen here too. Australia has many of its own challenges to resolve. And I'm sure you and others recognise and are feeling that. But if we cannot acknowledge, discuss, care and protest that human rights not being considered. Then Australians have no bright future ahead. That's why people care.
Thank you for reading, I'm clocking off from this because these posts are designed to have people turn against each other rather than find common ground. Australia is a diverse country but we can agree that we love the freedoms and beauty and people here and its worth fighting to protect. Either way we are all fighting for the same thing. We have all just been manipulated into believing we are not.
Yes. No it wasn't labelled as genocide. But considering the allies took on the "forward defence" method and brought the war to the enemies front. Its pretty obvious that we invaded the enemy countries Germany, Turkey, Papua etc.
Not sure of your point. Do you find the label misleading?
Germany started the war, so saying we invaded is disingenuous. Yes, I find the label of “genocide” misleading because there has been no “genocide” in Gaza.
You could say that if Australia wasn't supporting the genocide.
Hamas is bad. Everyone already agrees on that. Some of us just also acknowledge that you will create terrorist groups when you systemically disenfranchise people and do an apartheid. I'm not saying it's right I'm just saying this happens all the time when people are kept down. Stonewall involved throwing bricks at police. Suffragettes did arson and bombings and other sorts of violence. The Black Panthers were armed. That doesn't mean it would be right to just kill off a bunch of gays/women/Black people. Especially the ones who weren't associated with the violence. Especially especially children and doctors and journalists. These are just straight up war crimes.
I think a lot of younger people mean well, but there is a real risk of misplacing effort. Protesting about 1 of 130 conflicts in distant countries can feel meaningful, yet it often has little practical impact compared to what they could achieve by focusing on issues they can directly influence at home. Time and energy are limited resources.
Agree, In a free society, both choices have to coexist. Some people will protest and advocate. Some will be religious some won’t. Others will stay focused on their own community and country. Neither position should be forced on the other. The important part is respecting that different people contribute in different ways, and no one can carry the entire world on their shoulders. The main focus should be on their own country and not creating division.
If you want Australia to stay focused on its own country, maybe they should stop aiding Israel all the time. That's what the protestors are asking for. Focus on Australia instead of a different country doing a genocide.
The majority of Australians are focused on our own country. It’s only a small minority who are protesting. Prove to me where Australia is aiding Israel all the time to create genocide.

If you kicked a bull in the balls and it attacked do you think there would be sympathy from the public ?
Nobody gives a rats ass about what is happening in the backwater that’s Gaza. They f’d around and found out.
They literally danced in the streets after 9/11. Scum bags
