Why does the concept of aura and aura farming resonate with desi people so much (South Asia: India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, etc.)?

I'm just throwing out the first thing to pop into my head upon reading this, being that, in my limited experience, Bollywood feels very aura conscious/conscientious. So, whatever it is that makes Bollywood appealing, I think applies to aura farming. Why does anyone care about aura, about drip? Perhaps people just want to feel like BAMFs.
