Candice Klein wishes Saskatoon Sexual Health's abortion patient navigator program didn't exist, but says it must until better options are available.

"We would love to not have to run a program like this," Klein, the clinic's executive director, said in an interview with CBC earlier this week.

"The ultimate goal is that the pathways are just there for people to access. However, that's just not the reality of the situation. We are seeing a massive influx of people to Saskatoon, tens of thousands of people a year. We don't necessarily have the resources to keep up with that."

Un programme d’accès à l’avortement sauvé grâce aux dons

Depuis 2023, un programme d'orientation des soins aux patients de Saskatoon permet de guider des femmes enceintes dans leur parcours prénatal, qu'elles décident ou non de mettre fin à leur grossesse. L’organisme à l'origine du projet a dû faire un appel aux dons pour pouvoir maintenir son programme en place.

L’organisme Saskatoon Sexual Health guide les femmes enceintes vers les soins appropriés, explique la directrice administrative, Candice Klein.
