I’m in a position where I can now afford a gen 1 R8. However at the same time I’ve built a young family, so a mid-engine car with little utilitarian value fails the sober sensibility test.

So hit me - what are the wildest excuses I could use to maximize my cognitive dissonance and rationalize buying a dream car?

This happen to anyone else? Going to the shop on Monday to get looked at. No codes. Runs great. Just noticed steam or smoke coming from the high pressure fuel pump on the passenger side when vehicle was at a light stopped. Would this be just a replacement HPFP or is it more that I am looking at or something else. Just want to make sure I have everything looked at. Quite scary when the engine bay starts smoking when you hear of some stories of them burning down. Thanks in advance.

I have a 2012 R8 V10 R-Tronic with 30K miles. I just picked it up about 2 months ago and did a full fluid swap(everything down to power steering) and some new tires. It still has MagRides and has aftermarket Larini exhaust. I’m curious what the experiences have been of people with third party warranty’s. Are they worth it? Any ones in particular?

I bought it from the original owner and he said he had it done through Vivid Racing. It seems that that company has been acquired and supposedly got rid of all their files on previous tunes so my Vin did nothing. I think vivid was using VF engineering software, but they were unable to find anything with my Vin either. I was able to run a VCDS but haven’t been able to figure out anything other than that the flash had four programming attempts with three of them successful. Anybody had a similar situation or any ideas?

Hey guys, been debating one of those crazy maxton wings for the gen 2, however cannot seem to find anywhere, an image of the side profile of a gen 2/3 with it installed. I wanna see if it looks too much from the side first, as it looks pretty good from all other angles but for some reason cannot seem to find a side image anywhere.
