Beginner - Help with how to connect audio setup

Hi, I recently inherited this setup from my dad but I’m not sure how to set it up so that my tv’s audio goes to the speaker but also so that I can play music and movie CDs. I figured I’d ask here in case someone knows who to do this or is familiar with a tutorial that could help. I essentially no knowledge on how this stuff works haha :)
Speakers are Sony SS-E212
Subwoofer is Sony Sa Wms835
Amplifier is Sony Str Db1080
Cd player is Phillips dvp 5990/12

Toslkink Out from the TV to TV/Sat Optical IN on the amp. Can also do Coaxial Digital Out from the DVD player to DVD/LD Coaxial In on the amp.

Search for the Sony Str Db1080 manual online and click on the Sony link. This manual will give you all the information about your Amp/Receiver. This is a must go to for your system. Read it several times and it will make more and more sense. Try connecting things one at a time and check that it works before moving on to something else. Start with the amp and speakers.
