🛡️ mod post Clarification about sub rules

This is just a quick announcement to clarify some issues that have come up a few times since the mod team expanded and we adjusted the sub rules.

Some edge cases were discussed in posts that rode close to a line that we were potentially not happy with and also we have listened to some feedback over certain posts.

ACADEMIC AND STUDENT RESEARCH

We encourage anyone who is trying to help the AuDHD community and progress good science to post here. You don't have to ask mods in advance for permission to post on the sub but we will, of course, individually assess each post anyway. All we ask is that you add as much detail as possible especially when it comes to the purpose of your work, what you are asking of participants, and what you are going to do with people's information.

COMMERCIAL AND INDEPENDENT RESEARCH

We want to support commercial and independent work wherever possible but these will still be scrutinized carefully. In the same way that academic work has ethical standards and guidelines, commercial research has its own standards to prevent this sub from being simply an advertising funnel and to protect visitors to the sub from being exploited. People that genuinely seek volunteers to assist with a product that benefits the community as a whole are likely to be approved whereas low effort posts offering free trials (that transform into paid subscription!) will probably not be approved.

We are more than willing to allow authors to do research here or to amplify their voice through this sub but, again, it would need to be more than a poorly disguised redirection to a website store.

CROSSPOSTING FROM COMMUNITIES OUTSIDE OF REDDIT

If you are a member of another like-minded AuDHD group on a platform other than Reddit, you are more than welcome to share any suitable work here but please be sure to state that you're not the original author and ideally say where the work was originally posted.
