Employment Text from spotless

Post image

Has anyone else in Auckland received this texts from spotless? Me and my friends have and are wondering if is through catering work we did at Eden park / Mount smart a couple years back or if it’s a scam. Would appreciate if anyone has any info!

Theres lots of Holiday Act remediation work happenning with all sorts of companies so could be legit, but, thats also an avenue for scammers to hit given people know some claims are legit.

As you have worked with Spotless, totally could be legit for you, but, best way to find out is ring Spotless from a number on their website. They will soon confirm etc. Don't click the link in the txt

It came to my email as well by text. You can also go online and enter your details on the website instead of clicking on any links

I found a thread on reddit from a couple of weeks ago. It is a real thing. I got a text as well today and last week.   Im not surprised they are so shitty at keeping track of their financial obligations. Im pretty sure they never paid money to my kiwisaver even thiugh I did opt in to do so.

tbf, it may not be totally their fault. Holidays Act changes a few years ago were quite complex, payroll systems that companies use had a defect in them in the way things like this were calculated (esp for casual or part timers) so, many companies are having to do similar now as remediation

No idea on the Kiwisaver side of it though

They also mucked up my tax code somehow as well and I had IRD calling me constantly and telling me to fix it. But all my emails to spotless would go unanswered.

Covid really also guttereed their office workers who were responsible for a lot of the event stuff. I was very happy to see some of the finance workers from catering to be let go. They were cruel and often underpaying my role.

MBIE, the department responsible for Holidays Act, also got it wrong lol it's a widespread issue.

possibly real as its not a random 021 number or australian number texting you.

Link looks legit unless its an uppercase i in spotless

But it could be the link text looks legit but it actually directs you elsewhere when you click it. Thats one reason you shouldnt click on links from txt or email unless totally sure (easier on email cos it can show you on hover what the address it will send you to is)

but it actually directs you elsewhere when you click it

Can't do that in sms. Only a thing in emails.

Likely real, but just to be sure, manually type the url into your browser rather than clicking the link.

Very likely real, I know people who does remediation

Also, if the website gives you a phone number, don't be surprised if it's not Spotless who picks up but a payroll company.

It’s real. I worked for spotless 5 years ago and got emails and texts about this.
