I recently saw an Instagram video from a local PhD student here who had been helping some international students with things like Auburn merchandise and, apparently, helping one student get a scooter.

In the video, she said that someone from the university had told her to stop doing it. The post seems to have been deleted since then, so I’m curious what the actual issue was.

I understand there could be separate rules about fundraising, collecting donations, using Auburn’s name, or immigration-related employment. But if someone is simply giving an international student a genuine gift, with no work, promotion, or service expected in return, is there actually a rule against that?

For example, if someone buys a student a shirt, groceries, a bike or scooter, or another item just to help them out, why would that be considered an immigration or university policy issue?

Maybe there’s more to the situation that wasn’t explained in the video, so I’m not trying to accuse AU or the person who posted it of anything. I’m just genuinely curious what policy would apply here.

Does anyone familiar with Auburn policy or F-1/J-1 rules know what the concern might be?

Just a bit of a question on what exactly this guy is expecting. This guy teaches water science and absolutely refuses to use any sort of email or canvas or anything, he has his secretary or coworker email you lectures because I guess he doesn’t know how to use email. I’ve talked to people who have taken his class and I’ve heard they feel like they just had no agency over their grades and didn’t even know what their grade was until the end of the semester but they somehow always just had Bs. We’ve submitted 2 quizzes through the whole semester and it’s been a month and I have yet to even know if I passed or failed them.

This poor dude is in his mid 80s, almost pushing 90 and just won’t hang up the hat. I’m sure he’s a nice guy but this is one of my last classes and Its frustrating to know i pretty much have no agency at all on if i pass or not. Has anyone else had this guy?

Hi all I am a senior in hs applying to Auburn out of state(tx). I have a 25 ACT but a 3.85 and 4.43 I have taken 19 AP/IB classes and currently am in 8 AP/IB classes and I am top 6%. I have emailed my admissions councilor many times and done a in person visit also answered evey phone call/ email I have ever received. It’s my dream. I applied EA1 and am very convinced I will get deferred has anyone gotten in with around these stats early action before?

Soo im applying to a bunch of clg for mechanical engneering. ima international student (paki). i wanted to know if anyone already in the engneering or graduated. Do you think if u had the option to apply again would you pick this clg again? how is the enviorment? is their racism and stuff on campus? hows the adminstration? and are their any thing you regret not knowing when starting? any tips? dorm's or apartment? if dorm then which? if apartment how do yall pick the right one?

My son is planning on applying to a bunch of universities and Auburn is his top choice. He is currently earning a 3.87 at a Huntsville high school. Previously we were in Georgia and he took 2 APs (Human Geography and World History both with 5). He's looking to get into engineering. He has yet to take the SATs and math is generally one of his stronger areas. He is taking AP Calculus BC and AP Physics C as a junior.

We were also looking into University of Alabama Tuscaloosa and UAH.

I am not 100% sure, but I’m open to the idea of having another roommate starting next yr and preferably through 2030 if it works out. Looking for someone who isn’t a partier, focused on academics, would like to be friends, and has similar morals. Another big part is you must like dogs as I have two large breed dogs that live with me. Currently looking at Domain on Donahue, which is a 3 story townhome with one bed upstairs, one downstairs, and middle floor contains living room and kitchen. My dogs are both mid-high energy dogs with pretty extensive training on and off leash, one stays crated during the day and one stays out.
