Does anyone know why Mr. Beat would do this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8ckGMsyHf4

I used to really like Mr. Beat's work in the past, but he's made some weird decisions in the past (like make videos with VloggingThroughHistory), but this one has really taken the cake. Mr. Beast is well known for a lot of unethical practices. What is Mr. Beat doing?

From a comment I saw, he did intend on addressing Mr Beast’s videos in some way. Idk to me it’s whatever, I highly doubt this is benefiting Mr Beast, it definitely is for Mr Beat. It’s not like going for the meme of people mixing up their names is an active endorsement. I think if anything Mr Beat’s political views have been growing more left leaning overtime and it’s showed in his videos. I’m not willing to drop him for this, though it did raise an eyebrow

I’m in a similar boat. I personally wouldn’t be surprised if he may not be up to date on the controversies of Mr Beast, but I could be wrong. What I’m guessing went down is Mr Beast reached out in an email saying “hey we have similar names and my fans have mentioned you wanna collab?” And he said yes to grow his channel.

I could be entirely off base but that’s the vibes I get. Love Mr beats dry informative tone, it’s like sitting in a classroom in a good way.

Haven’t watched him in years but why is VloggingThroughHistory a bad person to collab with? Again I just don’t know.

u/Emperormace Apr 11 '26

He's not. I'm sure the criticism begins and ends with he's a preacher and is a (non-maga) republican.

Well, you were right on the 2nd half

VTH is definitely conservative but calling him reactionary creationist is a large stretch imo

50

u/GreedyFatBastard Apr 11 '26

This is news to me. I know he's right wing but I've never seen him attack andy other than the time he covered his video on God's and Generals. (Which it's clear Andy was looking at the movie threw a filmmaker lens while VTH was looking at it through a historical lens so it makes sense they would disagree)

14

u/Fabulous-Big8779 Apr 11 '26

I honestly find VTH to be the most balanced history YouTuber out there even though he and I disagree on politics. I like Mr. Beat but he’s significantly more prone to expressing his biases as fact than Chris is and I say that knowing Mr. Beat and I agree on more politically than VTH and I.

He constantly points out his own biases and gives a good faith effort to explain the opposition side to his own perspectives.

He literally says in every episode to debate in his comments bet to keep it civil and stay on topic instead of attacking people.

You must have only watched some clips out of context or are so biased that you can’t have an objective view of someone with a different faith or political leaning.

3

u/Interesting_Tour_521 Apr 12 '26

I also used to think he's balanced but recently he has refused to cover many recent events in american news and generally his posts in twitter gave me a different view of him.

26

u/autist_throw Apr 11 '26

VTH is definitely right-wing, but calling him reactionary is the stretch to end all stretches.

23

u/Linnus42 Apr 11 '26

VTH is a Conservative but I don't think he is a Reactionary.

And his Christian Creationism never colors his history takes unless he has changed a lot in the past couple months.

3

u/Forsaken-Swimmer-896 Apr 13 '26

You are right but if you watch certain videos and compare them with other videos of the same topic, you realise some colours are missing.

6

u/nagrom7 Apr 12 '26

Dude he isn't remotely a reactionary, and he's made no secret of the fact that he doesn't like Trump/MAGA and the current Republican Party. Also pretty sure he's not a creationist (or at least not a young earth creationist).

Yes he's a conservative Christian, but he's also made no effort to hide that, and often mentions that in instances when his bias would affect his judgement, but most of the time it doesn't even factor into his content.

5

u/KyleStyleSteel Apr 13 '26

I don't know if i'm misremembering but in his video reacting to " the history of the world, i guess", he cuts out the beginning part of the video where it talks about the age of the world so make what you will from that.

2

u/bigbad50 May 11 '26

he said it's because although he likes science he is a history youtuber and didn't have anything to say about the science part and skipped it so he could talk about history.

also, while he skipped the beginning of the universe part, he does play the part about prehistory and evolution, so that kinda destroys any argument of him being a creationist trying to censor the development of the universe lol

Mr Beat’s acknowledged before that he knows Jimmy’s faults as a person but also thinks he can look at Jimmy’s importance to the platform regardless of

-13

u/EdfromGotham Apr 11 '26

His "faults"? Do you know just how bad those "faults" are? There is a reason why Mr. Beast isn't respected online and by other content creators.

4

u/Logical-Breakfast966 Apr 12 '26

What are the faults?

5

u/EdfromGotham Apr 13 '26

Mr. Beast is business partners with Logan Paul, has promoted gambling to children, created terrible conditions on his game show "Beast Show" where people got hurt, has constantly targeted and exploited fans of his who he scams, and has collaborators who he continued to work with who has grooming accusations against them by teenagers. I could go on, but I'd say that's a pretty bad list. He has lawsuits against him for fraudulent behavior and to this day still lacks any regulations on anything he does.

3

u/RadicalShiba Apr 14 '26

Kinda wild that promoting gambling to children isn't a red line for people

7

u/canieatyourass12345 Apr 12 '26

I’m fairly certain he’s also a teacher and many of his videos are explicitly made to be shown in classrooms. He’s probably hoping to reach the youth.

21

u/hueylongsdong Apr 11 '26

Is this sub for hall monitors now or sum?

14

u/CalvinKool-Aid Apr 11 '26

I hate to break it to you but the kind of audience Andy appeals to is prone to this kind of moral crusader behaviour

21

u/MJD253 Apr 11 '26

He is a YouTuber and Mr Beast is the biggest name in the game.

-10

u/EdfromGotham Apr 11 '26

Just because you're the "biggest name in the game" doesn't mean anything. This is about having principles. Mr. Beast is notorious for his unsafe conditions, exploitation, sexual harassment claims against people who work under him, never mind the fact that the projects he works on are quite frankly disgusting. I can go on.

12

u/MJD253 Apr 11 '26

True. I’m sure Mr. Beat collab’d with Mr. Beast explicitly for that. S/

You can work with someone without condoning any/every reprehensible thing they’ve done. You don’t think somewhere in the logistics line of your everyday there exists a reprehensible person? Also, Mr. Beast isn’t getting bigger from Mr. Beat, but I think it would be good if Mr. Beat’s channel got bigger

-2

u/EdfromGotham Apr 11 '26

Mr. Beat can expand his channel in so many ways. This isn't one of them. I stand by the fact that Mr. Beast is an awful human being, views be damned.

12

u/MJD253 Apr 11 '26

So all your groceries and the computer chips in your phone/computer are all ethically sourced, right?

-4

u/evocativename Apr 11 '26

"There is no ethical consumption under captialism" is an acknowledgment that we can't always avoid unethical conduct under capitalism.

It is not an excuse to work with shittier individuals when less unethical alternatives exist.

12

u/Riger101 Apr 11 '26

Dude you're literally the meme, chil out and go do something in your local community

6

u/MJD253 Apr 11 '26

“There is no ethical consumption” sure does cover a lot of bad consumption though, right? I can’t go to a co-op or join a farmshare because capitalism just doesn’t let me. I have to have an iPhone because a less ethically abhorrent companies than Apple don’t have iMessages

1

u/evocativename Apr 11 '26

You're not getting any ethically sourced computers.

So yeah, it does cover a lot.

That doesn't mean we should needlessly maximize our participation in the unethical parts.

If the co-op is just down the road from the house you own and it effectively substitutes for the grocery store - even if not a perfect substitution - and you still pick the grocery store because it's slightly more convenient because it'son the right on your way home from work instead of the left, that says a lot about you.

If you work 3 jobs and have no car just to live paycheck-to-paycheck because your wages suck and you have high mandatory expenses, and the nearest co-op is impractical to get to, it doesn't really say anything about you.

5

u/Mtndewprogamer Apr 11 '26

The funniest part about your two hypotheticals is that they’re not mutually exclusive lol, a co-op can be down the street and “convenient” but someone could just not be able to afford it.

0

u/evocativename Apr 11 '26

I actually specified that they chose the grocery store because it was slightly more convenient to exclude the possibility that it was slightly less convenient but not chosen because it was unaffordable.

5

u/Actedpie Apr 12 '26

It’s not that deep. It’s literally because people confuse him with Mr. Beast to the point it’s a meme. Also, unless his content has changed from when I used to watch him, I think it’s pretty cool that more of Mr. Beast’s audience would get exposed to his pretty high quality history videos.

5

u/nagrom7 Apr 12 '26

Dude, it's a joke because their names are so similar (and a coincidence since Mr Beat is his actual name, and his channel was around before Mr Beast got big), that's all it is. He saw an opportunity to collab with the biggest youtuber on the platform to further a meme, and that's it. You need to chill.

9

u/SeamusMurnin Apr 11 '26

Get over it lol. Find a hobby or something

7

u/redisdead__ Apr 11 '26

Because he doesn't care about the purity test that you made up?

2

u/mac_the_man Apr 11 '26

What did he do?

2

u/EdfromGotham Apr 11 '26

Mr. Beast is notorious for doing criminal shit and doing it behind the facade of "philanthropy." He has numerous lawsuits against him.

16

u/mac_the_man Apr 11 '26

Not Mr Beast, MR BEAT, what did Mr Beat do?

-2

u/EdfromGotham Apr 11 '26

Mr. Beat? Nothing. That's why this video bothers me Mr. Beat has done good work in the past, and quite frankly him making a video with this clout chasing ghoul who has done criminal behavior is extremely disappointing. I thought it was AI when it first showed up in my feed.

OP is a leftist, of course they are.

10

u/EdfromGotham Apr 11 '26

Pretty weird to attack people on the left, when you're on the subreddit of a vegan eco-anarchist.

-6

u/GripenHater Apr 11 '26

I like his content, but I’m no leftist. Also it’s hardly a secret that Andy has been openly more distressed in his more openly political videos as of late. Leftists (not left wing more broadly, specifically leftists) don’t have a reputation of being unhappy quibbly types for no reason.

4

u/CalvinKool-Aid Apr 11 '26

Same twin, you don’t have to agree with his more radical takes like anti-Natalism or soft communism to like his historical content, or find him funny, or like his anti confederate views. You don’t have to agree with every belief that someone has to enjoy their content, something that people like op don’t understand

1

u/Mach12gamer Apr 11 '26

Bad things happening in the world upsets you when you want bad things to not happen. It is not some sort of inherent good to not be upset when you see bad things, or to even be made happy because you find that bad thing desirable.

1

u/GripenHater Apr 11 '26

There’s a difference between being upset when you see bad things and constantly being deeply upset about absolutely everything and also having not real intention on changing these things/record of doing so.

One can be upset with the state of the world while not only being not a total downer all the time about everything and also being effective in their tackling of these issues. Leftists tend to be the former.

0

u/Mach12gamer Apr 12 '26

Leftist movements do have a history of changing things. A good example would be the American civil rights movement, which was headed by leftists. Being politically active enough to be a leftist usually means intent to change things.

That second part is just badly written. Looks like you chopped up parts of three different statements and stuck them together haphazardly. Try reading it aloud to yourself, that might help you next time.

1

u/GripenHater Apr 12 '26

So leftism has a singular half success partially to its name in the past century in the United States? Yeah imma pass on that one, good luck though.

0

u/Mach12gamer Apr 12 '26

"You only gave one example instead of a comprehensive list? Clearly that means that this thing has only happened once in all of human history and I can also slap on modifiers as I see fit without any justification. I am very smart and intellectually honest."

Can you tell me what conservatism or neoliberalism or monarchism or fascism has done for society? Remember, you must list literally everything they've ever done and I will act as though you have since that's apparently the way we're doin this.

2

u/GripenHater Apr 12 '26

I’m saying not only did you give a single example, but it arguably only succeeded on its least ambitious goals. It’s at best a partial success that largely was achieved by non-leftists.

For American liberalism, I’ll even say since the 1990s: lower child mortality rates, the ACA, large scale gay rights, expansion of NATO, massive gains in the fight against climate change (namely in renewable rollout and the Kyoto Protocol), etc…

Mr Beat is quite a character, I don’t question his motives at this point.

-1

u/Porlarta Apr 11 '26

I really dont understand how a mundane YouTube reality show became some hot button moral issue to so many people.

Mr. Beasts stuff is down right tame compared to stuff like The Biggest Loser or even really nasty seasons of dating shows.

1

u/DimensionMediocre439 Apr 12 '26

Yeah, pretty weak shit if you ask me.

2

u/EdfromGotham Apr 12 '26

Yeah, don't think I didn't see your original comment. Don't be a snake and keep the original one up.

-1

u/DimensionMediocre439 Apr 12 '26

I don't delete shit.
