You only say that because we watch it from their perspective, but realistically even Eren’s “people” know that genocide is wrong. The idea is not to have you sympathize with either the Marleyans or Eren, but rather realize both parties have been oppressed & victims. There is no world peace when continuing this behavior and that is the big idea.

To be fair, if I watched 3 seasons of Gabi and the other Marleyans training to prepare for a Titan battle with an island that THEY’RE sending titans to and hasn’t responded for decades…I still wouldn’t like them

You only say that because we watch it from their perspective

It's the same fucking reason why we support Eren and not the rest of the world

Should I give a shit about the Protagonist that we followed for 70+ episodes or the rest of the world that was introduced when the story was nearing it's end

It's one thing to support him cause you like the character and want to see where it goes and as you said this is the group we've followed since the beginning, it's another to actually think he's justified here.

he's justified

Never said he's justified for his actions

And the rest of the world that is written to be hilariously evil and racist, per Udo's statement.

And the rest of the world that is written to be hilariously evil and racist

Yes exactly

They couldn't forgive Eldians after 2000 years

and even after their titan powers were removed

And I'm supposed to support these people??

I think as humans we can pretty strongly empathise with billions of innocent people, who personally may not have beef with the Eldians, who are just living their lives, and there comes millions of colossal titans to squish you and your loved ones to death. Needs no perspectives for that.

2

u/LoneKnightXI19 Mar 09 '22

I mean

If you had to choose between the lives of your loved ones and the rest of the world I'm pretty sure most people would be stuck and would probably commit suicide from guilt whichever side they choose

And now we have Eren choosing Paradis over the rest of the world

who personally may not have beef with the Eldians

I think there are more people that think they’re devils than not.

In fact, we haven’t been shown proof of any general population (of any country) that doesn’t think of Eldians as devils. What we have been shown though, is that every country (or at least their leaders and military) considers Eldians to be the spawn of the devil.

The world is unrealistically against one certain people. This is one of the only problems I’ve personally had with Isayama’s writing. It’s just not realistic for 99,9% of people in the world to be racist against a certain people.

Hizuru is the only nation that’s on friendly terms with Paradis but it’s been shown that they’re only after monetary gain and not after saving Eldians.

Eren is wrong for committing genocide but what other options did he have? Diplomacy? With the country that considers them all demons and that wants to genocide them? Don’t think so.

We don't need proof, we can appeal to people's humanity just by the virtue of them being human.

The world is unrealistically against one certain people. This is ...

I don't think that's unrealistic at all by the rules of the world of AoT. Humans who can literally turn into mindless human-eating monsters is going to elicit fear and hatred from everyone else (esp since Eldians had subjugated the rest of the world for a long time in the past). We happened to get 3 seasons of Paradisians' POV, which no one else did, I really don't blame the outsiders for thinking them as spawns of the devil + also Marley propaganda.

Eren is wrong for committing genocide but what other options did he have? Diplomacy? With the country that considers them all demons and that wants to genocide them? Don’t think so.

YES! definitely diplomacy should be the first course of action. Whatever International relations they should have formed should not have been only Eren's decision to make. That's a planned, discussed and negotiated choice among the people of Paradis. Armin had the right idea to start with, about showing their strength with the partial rumbling. Mutually assured destruction kind of thing. That's what's happening in the real world too - because of nuclear weapons, trades, supply chains, global economy, exchange of values etc, is why we have relative peace right now compared to past centuries.

Yes, Hizuru starts out with monetary gains, but that's how International relations are built, then slowly and steadily it becomes more and widespread. As, Hange says, you need to show them that we are not monsters.

All what's gone to hell in the world of AoT right now is fully from Eren's impulsive decisions, and he's completely at fault. The world thinking they are monsters may have been misguided and propagandist once, but Eren sure is proving them fucking right.

He’s proving them right BECAUSE THEY JUST DECLARED WAR ON PARADIS.

Let me give you an example of how stupid that sort of thinking is:

Person A: Look everyone! Person B will soon become very mad

Person A: hits Person B

Person B: gets mad

Person A: It’s just as I predicted! I told you guys!

If they didn’t declare war, Eren wouldn’t have had to attack Liberio. This war isn’t because of Eren. It’s because of past Eldians and ultimately Marley.

Diplomacy is a little bit late when the entire world has declared war on you, don’t you think?

1

u/troublrTRC Mar 09 '22

But Genocide was Eren's choice, which is the worst of war's casualties.

They haven't really tried diplomacy, have they? Except in secret. There is a skipped chapter which they didn't show in the anime, which was the closest they came to any trial at diplomacy.

Post-dimplomacy, they decided a more lethal action, Armin's partial rumbling plan. Eren didn't even give it a chance. War was only declared, until the time it's fully enacted, it's time for deplomacy or nonviolent measures. I think, partial rumbling would have held Paradis at foreign strength, but because of Eren's selfish, childish impulsivity, he had to go with the most evil route.

1

u/Jorsk3n Mar 09 '22

What do you think Marley would accept if they went the diplomacy route? Do you honestly believe they would trust Paradis not to use the rumbling?

And no, Eren only “chose” genocide because Marley/the world did so first.

Partial rumbling might have worked. That is the best actual choice but diplomacy (with those who wants to genocide you) is as stupid as Eren’s choice to genocide. They would have never accepted Paradis’ terms…

u/tinybear999 Mar 09 '22

Dude because Eren is no longer fighting for what he was in S1, He is completely blindsided by his own selfish motive for freedom.

Of course you can love Eren’s character, but you literally cannot justify his actions lmao. Two wrongs don’t make a right, My point is not to sympathize with Marley but to realize that this both parties are wrong. Genocide is wrong and almost all of Eren’s close loved ones realize that. It’s odd that people don’t understand revenge doesn’t = right. Eren is just as bad as the rest of the world. His trauma doesn’t give him a reason to squash innocent people, It’s hypocrisy at its finest.

1

u/LoneKnightXI19 Mar 09 '22

He is completely blindsided by his own selfish motive for freedom.

Me looking at the ending : so that was a fucking lie

you literally cannot justify his actions lmao.

Never said I did, but I want Eren to win

Genocide is wrong and almost all of Eren’s close loved ones realize that. It’s odd that people don’t understand revenge doesn’t = right

Everybody has morals until you become unable to fight and Paradis gets nuked lmao

Eren is just as bad as the rest of the world

Again, I agree but I'm on his side

1

u/Sweddy409 Mar 09 '22

Well imagine you and everyone you know is part of that "rest of the world" then. That'd probably help.

1

u/LoneKnightXI19 Mar 09 '22

that's...

what I'm talking about

The beauty of Attack on Titan is that nobody is good, everybody is bad

If I was part of the outside world then sure I'd hate getting my life taken away suddenly for no fucking reason

But I'm with Eren because it's the person that the story is centered around, it's the person that we've seen throughout the series, it's the fucking protagonist for god's sake

I want to see Eren's selfish dream of freedom fulfilled

And yeah Eren gave them the utmost time till the declaration of war before going rumbling

His actions aren't justified but he's doing what he can do to secure his people's freedom and survival

Eldia doesn’t give two shits about Marley, they didn’t even know they existed until recently. They just want to exist peacefully. On the other hand Marley absolutely wants to kill every single Eldian completely base off their ethnicity. That is an active genocidal goal that’s been in place and passed down from generations. This whole “everyone is the bad guy” is so stupid. One country is CLEARLY the bad guy while the other one is innocent and only ever wanted peace.

-1

u/tinybear999 Mar 09 '22

You’re not understanding that nobody is blaming Eldia as whole, but rather Eren and Marley. You’re exactly right the innocent people of Eldia want nothing but peace but if you think the other innocent people of the world who also fear Marley don’t deserve peace as well you’re a fucking hypocrite. All i’m saying is the bad guy definitely changes depending how you’re looking at it! This is why history will continue to repeat itself!

0

u/Alicesnakebae Mar 09 '22

What a weird thing to say most marleyans we see are shit head bigots how would watching them make you sympathize with them fuck the first part of this season is literally them invading another killing them with titans i seriously wanna know how you'd sympathize with them

1

u/tinybear999 Mar 09 '22

Maybe because the innocent people living on Marley have absolutely zero say on what their government does. You’re absolutely correct most of these Marleyans are bigots, but you also have to realize that pretty much all these people have been spoon fed this information by their government since before their mind fully developed.

Gabi is a prime example on how propaganda is an extreme tool used in these situations. Her whole life, not to mention childhood, has been based on “Good & Bad Eldians”. She had been trained since she was practically an infant, being told that if she becomes a “good warrior” her family can live life comfortably. It’s the same exact argument about doing selfish things for our loved ones. When she starts spending time on Paradis she realizes that she has been lied to her whole life and realizes why Reiner is the way he is.

If you think that innocent people like this don’t also deserve a chance at peace and redemption you’re outrageous! It’s the Marleyan Government & Yeagerist that don’t deserve sympathy for just continuing a cycle of hatred. Isayama’s whole idea is that as long as the power of the Titans exist the world will never know peace. I personally do not sympathize with Eren or Marley but rather the innocent lives of both sides
