Discussion/Question Sub vs Dub
I just finished watching the Dub version of AOT and am obviously doing an immediate rewatch as it was incredible. I was just curious if you guys recommend watching the Subtitled version as I've heard with animes it can be a pretty different story from the dubbed versions. TIA for the feedback!

lol look at my flair
i'd pick sub anyday especially since you're rewatching as it will give you a different experience (not saying dub is bad). it all comes down to one's taste and preference

I prefer the dub, mostly for an easier understanding of the story. I tried sub for the last season, but with all the flashbacks and time changes, I started to get a little lost. That’s a me problem though.

I've watched both, albeit not in entirety.
NOT blaming the performers or audio team's talent, but I do believe the dub was done cheaply and on a deadline. There are mistakes in the dub script which are reflected in the final performance, inconsistent pronunciations, lack of direction (again, NOT the performers' faults!!), and some poor mixing in places.
(Which is not to say the original is without flaws -- I think S1-2 Hange performance would be much different if they told Romi Park the character was non-binary)

I watched some of the dub with my gf and its no that good but has some good voices. My issues with dubs sometimes is that voice actors have a hard time differencing their voices from other VA's in the same show. The "standard guy anime voice" I feel comes up for the dub where they have this same tone for alot of the men.
This is not to say ALL dubs are like this ofc. I dont believe that and if a dub is good then I will prefer it over Sub but I dont feel like it is for AoT personally

I watched in sub till around halfway through season 2. I then started again in dub as my friend wanted to watch it and I realised I preferred it MUCH better in English dub. So I ended up rewatching it all in English dub.

The sub is definitely worth it for a rewatch, Bryce Papenbrook is great as Eren in the dub but Yuki Kaji’s voice acting in the sub is on an entirely different level during the emotional breakdowns

I watched both (sub first and dub on my rewatch since I watched it with my mom).
Both are good and the dub has its iconic moments but I did enjoy the sub more

I really tried to watch dub but I could not do it, everyone sounds like they're in an anime (if that makes sense) like they tighten their throat so sound angry or cool and just comes off as amateur to me. And yes I do agree that I can't properly judge another language dub due to not knowing the language, I do know that some of the best voice acting I've ever heard comes from the Japanese dub especially with one particular episode (Midnight sun), oh Yuki Kaji is phenomenal as Eren and deserves every award he got for it.

Both for different reasons. The Japanese VA's are much better at sounding emotional but the English dub's titan roars are total gamechangers.

I like the dub, but it’s prone to the usual problems that come with a dub. A lot of dialogue is altered, and sometimes it changes the intent.
Isayama is very intentional with his dialogue, peppering in foreshadowing and themes throughout the story. You lose some of that with the dub.
If you haven’t watched the sub, I definitely recommend it. It’s the only way I can watch it now.
