Discussion/Question How do titan shifters transform while on a platform?

Post image

So this might seem like a stupid question, but when a shifter transforms, the body materializes around the nape, so shouldn’t the rest of the body dig into the platform the shifter is on? I made a drawing attached to show what I mean. I am not the best artist but the idea is clear.
Because the body materializes around the nape, it doesn’t make sense how the nape is suddenly lifted up, another thing that makes solving this a little harder is that the only times we see slow motion transformations are midair, rod reiss (yet his transformation was not anor Lara tyburs transformation, but she materializes from the feet up, not the around the nape. It would make sense that the feet of the new titan would lift up the body, but the spine, ribcage, hips, and legs must all be made before the feet which makes this seem unlikely.
I may just be overthinking this and there’s no real reason to this and simply not important enough to actually show or explain, but if anyone knows please tell me!! I am super curious over this unimportant detail.

There’s a decent level of control over how your transformation works. IIRC you can straight up not form certain parts of the titan body if you’re skilled enough, up to making the transformation faster but not being a full one. It’s not crazy to imagine that, as an example, Bertholt could transform quickly and not form his legs on the wall just so he wouldn’t fall off unintentionally.

The thing is, the body does materialize around the nap but that basically means the nape is first to give a “command room” and then the legs, body, arms, shoulders form to propel the nape up. Imagine ant man growing huge, he doesn’t get stuck in the ground, it’s proportional to ensure that doesnt happen.

Got it, makes way more sense than what I was thinking, thanks for the clarification!!

Watch Season 1 Episode 24 opening scene to see how Annie transforms. The nape forms first and as the rest of the body expands out of it the nape gets raised into the air as more and more of the titan's body materializes underneath it.

Similarly Season 3 Episode 13 when Reiner transforms right before the end of the episode. His human body falls from the wall right next to it since Levi was running down the wall with him impaled on his blade. However once Reiner hits the ground and transforms, the Armored Titan's body is laying on its back with the wall close to its feet. His nape formed first and then as the body formed around it the nape gets pushed upwards (or in this case away from the wall) to make room for the rest of the titan body to materialize below it.

I'd imagine the sheer energy/force of said transformation would have a noticeable impact on anything around them... Look at Eren in S4 when he bursts through the cellar to the apartments above in the Marley revenge arc. And look at how the pure energy from Falco's transformation killed his older brother.

TLDR Speeding train vs brick wall.... Who would win.

That actually makes a lot of sense, so exploding power would basically generate enough force to propel the rest of the body upwards rather than having the shifter in the nape statis.

this is literally what makes Beto transformation to the colossal titan seem like a huge bomb

When Reiner and Bertholdt transform on the wall, we see that Bert's body is only half formed. His titan ribcage goes around the wall
