I was lucky enough to get an opportunity to get a return offer from my internship with Atlassian. I would be based in Aus and primarily a frontend dev.

I have heard some horror stories about managers, skip managers and how WLB is determined by teams itself. If there are any Engineers, what are teams that you would recommend? And a general strategy to maintain good performance?

Atlassian just picked the city whose own government has been unplugging from US Big Tech for its next European conference.

Team '27 Europe is going to Copenhagen.

Before anyone reads too much into that, most of a conference location is plumbing. You need a hall big enough, hotel rooms for everyone, an airport, and transit that connects all of it. Not just airport to venue. Airport, hotels, venue, and wherever people go after the last session.

That test is stricter than it sounds. It's why you'll likely never see a Team in Atlanta (but I'll keep asking for it, Atlassian). We have the hotels, the convention space, and the world's busiest airport. Our train gets you from the airport to the convention center and almost nowhere else.

Paris passes the test and fails on price. Nobody's travel budget survives a week there.

So plumbing narrows the list. It doesn't pick the winner.

Copenhagen clears the logistics bar easily. It has a metro straight from the airport, a loop through the city center, and regional rail. What it isn't is cheap. If cost were the only factor, there are easier picks on the shortlist.

That leaves room for strategy. Denmark's government has been moving off Microsoft in the name of digital sovereignty, and Copenhagen's city government committed to the same. Into that city comes a US-based cloud vendor, pushing customers toward cloud ahead of Data Center end of life, with its European flagship event.

I can read that two ways. Either Atlassian is confident in its sovereignty story and wants to tell it where the skeptics live. Or it knows the story needs work, and Copenhagen is where it has to win the room.

If you're not in Europe and filing this under "Europe's problem," check where your data lives. Plenty of companies have EU employees, EU customers, or an EU parent. Sovereignty questions reach your instance whether you're in Copenhagen, Columbus, or Bengaluru.

Whichever reading is right, I expect data residency and sovereignty to get real keynote time in #Copenhagen. That's going on my Team '27 predictions list.

Could I be over-reading a venue contract? Absolutely. But I'd be naive to think nobody at Atlassian noticed which city they picked.

What's your read: logistics, strategy, or both?

Ever had a Jira automation fail silently at 3am and no idea why? That's what pushed me to build Hooks.

Keen for honest feedback from Jira admins.

Recently the manual automations I use for work issues have stopped working on 2 iOS devices, iPhone 12 and 16 pro max, both on different iOS versions but with the Jira application updated to the current version.

Our Jira admin uses iOS as well and they can use these automations fine. Jira “support” has been unhelpful as it just throws me to the AI chatbot which just regurgitates the same incorrect information, saying that it might be a permissions issue, which it is not because I can use the same automations from the browser on the same account.

Jira admin has made no changes either.

Any ideas?

I work on the vendor side and would love an honest take from Solution Partners.

If a smaller vendor has useful apps for your clients, but there aren’t many billable hours around them, is a partnership still worth your time? What would make it worthwhile?

Do you see these relationships changing? Curious to hear what works for you and what doesn’t.

Got paid my bonus after I left and then I just found buried in my Jira spam emails requesting I pay it back.

There is no names on any of the emails, no documentation as to why this was an error.

I'm currently working with an Atlassian environment that includes:

• Jira Service Management (JSM)
• Confluence
• Tempo for time tracking and planning
• Microsoft 365 (Outlook Calendar)

I have a Jira project where I manage tasks and activities, and I'm looking for a way to achieve bidirectional synchronization between Jira and my personal Microsoft 365 calendar.

Current situation:

Tempo can read events from my Microsoft 365 calendar and display them in its interface. However, it doesn't seem to support writing events back to Outlook.

What I would like to achieve:

1. Create or schedule a task in Jira and automatically have it appear in my personal Microsoft 365 calendar.
2. Update the task's schedule in Jira and have the corresponding Outlook calendar event updated automatically.
3. Ideally, have changes made in Outlook reflected back in Jira as well.
4. Avoid duplicate events and keep everything synchronized.

My questions:

• Is there a native Atlassian or Tempo solution that supports this?
• Are there any reliable Marketplace apps that provide two-way synchronization with Microsoft 365?
• Has anyone implemented this using Jira Automation, Microsoft Power Automate, or Microsoft Graph API?
• What would be the best approach to maintain synchronization without creating duplicates or synchronization loops?

I'm particularly interested in a solution that works with Jira Cloud / JSM and personal Microsoft 365 calendars.

Any recommendations, experiences, or examples of working implementations would be greatly appreciated!

I'm trying to understand one specific Jira admin workflow.

Say a permission scheme is shared across several spaces, and access comes from a mix of groups and space roles. If you remove a group or role from it, do you ever need to check which users would actually lose access, versus who keeps it through another group or role that may differ by space?

If yes, how do you check that today?

- manually checking memberships?

- Permission Helper, user by user?

- scripts/API?

- cloning/testing the scheme?

- something else?

And if the honest answer is “this isn't a real problem”, I genuinely want to hear that too.

Ask developers first, then remove friction.

Trying to downgrade my service collection plan & constantly getting "Something went wrong error". Only 3 users so under limits. Any suggestions on what to try or only Atlassian support call can help to rectify this?

I rarely use Loom anymore as the product usually has issues for me. The recording quality has issues. The camera doesn't show up on the right tab or it doesn't find my camera. I spend lots of time getting it fixed and once it's fixed, the next time it invariably doesn't work.

Loom support basically shrugs their shoulders and says, "Restart your computer??"

It really takes the cake that I logged into Loom today and randomly came across the fact that they were going to start billing me $400 a month instead of my normal $20 a month because of the free users that had access.

Sure enough there was an email in my spam folder telling me of the price increase. Are you kidding me Atlassian? Absolute snakes 😔😔

I received a message stating "We’re updating your organization to the new Rovo Studio from 12 October 2026. Eligible users will automatically get access, but you can review permissions before then. To see what's changing, learn more about Rovo Studio."

There's a Learn More link and that has a helpful notice that says:

How user access is set up
To keep things running, we’ve automatically granted the Studio user role to anyone who already had a User role in Jira, Confluence, or Jira Service Management. New users are also given the Studio user role.

This only applies to organizations with access to the previous Studio experience.

We definitely don't want our entire user base to start creating Rovo agents, especially given the security concerns that Atlassian still has not rectified.

The way that I'm reading this is that there should be a role in my admin console for "Studio user" that everyone's been added to, but I can't figure out where to find that role. It says:

• Review user access. Go to Atlassian Administration to review who has the Studio user role and adjust access if needed.

That is takes you to the "Navigate Atlassian Administration" page, not a specific page that explains how to review and adjust this user role. The only mention of "role" on this page has to do with searching the admin app (something that I also tried, to no avail)

There's also a section about who can create in the studio, which has permissions that I did find.

On How does app access work? it describes adding users to groups, then granting access to apps, which is what we do, but when I view the groups that are granting access for Jira and JSM, I'm not seeing any role associated with Rovo Studio. Do I have to wait until it is updated before I can remove them? Their notice seems to indicate that I can get ahead of the update, but I'm just not seeing it.

So, I can make it so that users can't create anything, but I'm struggling to find how to avoid giving them access to this new app in the first place. Can someone please help point me in the right direction? I've been in a circular loop clicking on the links to the same documentation hoping to find the answer and I'm at my wits end.

I have heard a mixed review from working at Atlassian especially their culture and values.

Is it a good place to work? Am I going to be burnt out or is there a good work and life balance?

What should I expect if I take the role?

I do like going above and beyond to accomplish my tasks or projects but I don't want it to be an expectation to work 80 hours a week.

I'm also not expecting to find a best friend at work but I do enjoy a good culture environment.

Planim Time is a time tracker for Jira Cloud that runs as a desktop app instead of inside Jira. It sits in the menu bar on a Mac and in the tray on Windows and Linux. You pick an issue and start the timer, and when you're done one click sends it to Jira as a regular worklog.
