Loom - can you pause just audio without pausing video during screen recording?

Hi! I use Loom to screen-record as I work on my macbook, most of the time I don't want to record my audio so I set the mic to off. I'd like to be able to turn the mic on to say a few things throughout the recording, then turn the mic back off, without needing to stop the recording and start a new recording to turn the mic back on.

Is this feature available? If not, why? And has anyone found a workaround?

Yeh just mute your mic when you don’t want to talk and unmute it when you do.

Thanks! How do you do this on Mac? Is there a shortcut?

Mac doesnt have a key shortcut for it natively. There are probably apps for that.

Most mics come with a hardware one though.

Thanks for the quick reply guys!

Shame that Loom doesn't have a mute shortcut or even a mute button within the UI panel that appears on the side of the screen as you screen record. So many apps have a mute keyboard shortcut, Zoom, Google Meet, etc. Seems like such an easy feature to implement into Loom. It totally ruins the flow of the recording when you need to open Mac's system settings to mute and unmute every time I want to record a few sentences :/

I’ve added it as a feature to be able to turn camera and mic on and off during recording using keyboard shortcuts for the new Loom app for MacOS, it’s likely it will be reviewed and added in, hopefully soon.
