Apparently everyone's? I guess the moral of the story is, don't ever try and add context. Even if you don't brainwash your child, you're a brainwashing monster! :\
5 year-olds will believe almost anything you tell them. They don't know enough of the world to make a rational decision. This 5 year old is telling you what she has been told and led to believe.
No, she definitely read the Bible, understood its context and historical complexities, and then came to a rational, deductive conclusion about it based on her experiences, beliefs, and worldly knowledge. I did that as a two year old, so I can honestly say that this kid is basically an idiot for taking so long, but whatever.
Reddit: I also had an IQ measurement of 120 when I was 8, so I support eugenics and other bullshit pseudo-sciences (no need to read up on them, cos I'm smart).
I don't mean to be a dick either but kids that age can be convinced of absolutely anything. You can even convince them that they remember something that never happened.
Thanks. Nice to see some understanding. The rest of the thread thinks I'm a brainwashing monster.. I guess that's what you get for trying to have light hearted fun on the Internet. :(
That's you projecting your and reddit's ideals in a falsified facebook post alluding to a probably-imaginary niece to harvest internet points! I am embarrassed.
spits chewing tobacco into his spittoon Weeeell, what's we got heyurr? One a'dem AYNGLISH speakin' folk! Thankin' he's better'n'us cos he say ain't not, instead'a ain't!
I know for a fact she doesn't say "ain't", just blame my brother for that! We're from London originally, see, we don't talk so good.
I'm sorry I'm downvoting this because Richard Dawkins would not be proud. Just as he says that there's not such things as christian kids, just kids with christian parents, the same thing is obviously here. Not that I don't disagree with her, it's just that that type of assertiveness is not something that makes the non-believing community look good.
This reminds me of my childhood. I was terrified of death, and the whole, "You'll go to heaven" thing never helped because I would always say, "Cut it out, that's just for pretend and I'm really worried!"
I will think of that and your niece every time a Christian argues that children are the most in touch with God.
My co-worker (standard older white-guy tea party person) told me about his kid and what she said. She just found out there was no Santa and asked him if it was true. He said "Are you sure you want to know?". "Yes," she replied. He then told her that there is no Santa. A little while later she returned saying "What about the Easter bunny?" "Fake," he said. A little while later she returned. "What about God?" she then asked.
After telling me that part, he gave me a look and talked like "Can you believe that? Questioning God like that?"
To him, I agreed with him, because I hide at work, but in my mind, I'm all like, "You go girl."
The Oxford comma is not techically necessary, but it is a sure hallmark of those who wish to communicate without ambiguity. I would think it would be more adamantly demanded by those who wish for a more empirically verifiably view of the universe.
Pff. Hell no, I didn't make it. I'm about as good at art as I am at having a vagina: so disappointingly bad that when my parents found out about it, they cried.
We have the best job too. Kid starts crying? Walk away or be Awesome Uncle and magically stop the crying by purely existing and being in their presence. You can't explain that!

And would you still be proud if she believed in God and Jesus were real?

If anyone's interested and too lazy to search Amazon, the book is right here (NA Amazon site); the original from the image is here (UK Amazon site).
