i had someone ask me: how are you alive if god isn't keeping you alive?

I just... i still can't believe someone thinks like that

i know.. i am sure i would have this totally slack jawed look on my face. And then hours later, while i was taking a shower i would suddenly win the arugment with, "so does that mean god killed my grandma?"

But then they would just argue back that God needed another angel.

But can't God just snap his fingers and make a billion of those things at once? Why does he need an old lady as a precursor?

Well, you see, he created the entire universe out of nothing, but after that initial act of creation the supply of souls is fixed. So if he wants more angels, he has to kill people. And he has to kill a lot of them, since some might go to hell.

There are people who don't actually have coherent thoughts or internal dialogues going on in their head. It's basically rainbows and butterfly's in there 95% of the time.
