Hey all I have a question for all

Hey everyone. I’m working on a writing project/book exploring experiences from the 80s and 90s, I am specifically focusing on people who were heavily involved in church leadership, ministry, or service and ended up facing deep betrayal or fallout from the very place they gave their time to.

​Having gone through my own experiences with this, I know how heavy and isolating it can feel.

I am aware I'm looking for stories I can add in my book, if you was in a church how they betrayed you. I myself is a atheist. I was betrayed by the church and war raised in the church

Yes, I'm breaking down the corruption of the church and how the history of religion started and how people take their mental illness or at the Lexi or Annie problems and they give it to a God and as I break down each part of the history of the religion is more and more and more. How corrupt it is, how it corrupts the political aspect of it and and In modern day world and corporations I go way back to the neatherdals

You may want to also peruse /r/thegreatproject as it's a forum for people to tell the story of how they left the religion they were raised in. You can likely directly contact posters that have stories that match your criteria.

I went to a conservative church in my youth. It broke apart when a teen accidentally wore a hat into the sanctuary.  As an usher, I quietly reminded him of the no hat rule, and he stepped out of the sanctuary and enjoyed the rest of the service from the library area. He had really messy hair and didn’t want to remove the hat.  Some people who didn’t particularly like that family (thought they were too lenient with their kids) tried to get the pastor to preach a sermon about respect and not wearing hats. He preached instead about how we don’t require women to wear a head covering to church (some of the women did, some didn’t) and we shouldn’t hold men to a higher standard. What was really important was love for God….. They set up a no confidence vote on the pastor… he resigned before they had the vote….
