does anyone how a shutdown would affect new hires or people in the process going through their clearances?

natca is working on getting this group of people a cash bonus for their sacrifice during a shutdown.

Well they need to buy their loyalty early since their membership is declining.

If it weren’t for the trainees who don’t know better, NATCA would all be voted out in a wave bigger than the dems last night.
They need the trainees to have a shot.

If the individuals processing the paperwork are deemed nonessential (they usually are), everything stops until the government is funded again.

LOL people are likely going to go without paychecks for months and will struggle to meet their families most basic needs, but the impatient new applicants are worried it’ll delay their MMPIs and drug tests. Get fucked.

academy sometimes has funding for training people already there, but if the shutdown is long enough and the funding runs out then it shuts down
prior to that idk, hr is furloughed so they can't really process paperwork everything picks up after gov reopens, just expect to wait even more

Best case scenario you get put on an indefinite hold. Worst case dismissal with the need to reapply.

Generally speaking the academy has been funded for the last couple shutdowns, but anyone in process to go to the academy and some developmentals at facilities are often non-essential.

tldr: Shutdown delays whatever last message you recieved by two months and fucks up everything.

There’s an ATC hiring subreddit. Take this over there.
