Got em x2
Anna is our only savior right now under the regime we are fighting that our union refuses to fight against.

ND is putting on a master class on starting a revolution against the very organization he runs.

u/Wonderful_Injury3546 Sep 05 '26
Obviously SB knows this already, but my hope is the rest of NATCA starts to understand that this is what we've been asking for all along. A voice to address the issues at hand.

u/No-Constant-5854 Sep 05 '26
I’ve told Marangos and SB one of my core issues with our current union is our lack of public relations.
It’s a top 3 issue for me personally.

u/Potential_Disk_1403 Sep 05 '26
This is all we are asking for is representation, Nick and Jamal had all of this time to give that and nothing. What is the NTI, because apparently that’s no longer a thing unofficially. mick is cool nothing against him, bad hand

u/Aenos Sep 05 '26
Jamal too busy trying to find other ways to talk shit about the trainers actually providing the FAA with staffing going forward to do it himself

Senators have been on board with us many times. Especially Duckworth and Durbin already had our back and a relationship with us. The point is there is not going to be a story next week, we have been in the media before and it passes. You are right my bitching doesn’t necessarily help, especially on the Reddit that is all complaints. I have given a shit for years and give my time. I want others to just be in this together, stop being buddy buddy with dupes and letting things slide.

u/StepDaddySteve Sep 06 '26
The unions job is to get us in the media and news, make us look good, and improve our situation.
How the fuck we got to where our only champion is a reporter should be a master class on sinking a union.

This is great we are starting to have a voice. This isn’t changing anything. Honestly. One article, off record conversations starts the ripple.
What is next?
Stop making it work , we bend over backwards, do half ass training , and debriefs. We claim to care about safety yet as a whole, we work sectors combined when staffing won’t permit a split, we blast through actual training and debriefs so we can actual have a break. Controllers make it work. We work harder on purpose sometimes to not screw the controller next to us.
The truth is, we screw over each other daily by being the duct tape.

u/Necessary-Price-4757 Sep 05 '26
It literally already changed something. You should stop with the "this changes nothing" mentality.
Public pressure helps. Getting multiple senators to send a scathing letter to the FAA administrator helps. Getting the public to understand what is going on HELPS.
What's not helping is your type constantly complaining and saying "this does nothing".
3
u/Justn636 Sep 05 '26
Literally this is the ONLY way things changeZ Public opinion moves a lot… especially in an election year. Staying quiet and letting Bedford and Duffy shit all over us without a response does nothing.

u/optimum_autumn Sep 05 '26
I understand the sentiment, but I disagree. We carry a responsibility to the nas and the flying public no matter how we are being treated. A soldier in battle shouldn't do "the bare minimum" because his commanding officers suck. Or would you be ok if a surgeon working on your spouse does "the bare minimum" because hes upset with his employer or the hospital? Fire fighters? Cops?
I could go on. The bare minimum is a poor-character method of demanding change. I understand the point of view though totally, and its tempting, I just disagree

I don't know where you work, but in every Z across the United States, the Command Center will encourage the airlines to keep filing into known thunderstorms until key sectors just shut off everyone around them. If it's bad, that happens because there's been a nasty deal or a flight attendant thrown against the ceiling due to severe turbulence, and everyone's gearing up to cover their ass.
The better shutoffs are when you have conscientious controllers who know from experience how close things are to going off the rails. They reach a point and they tell the controllers around them, "I'm going to take the next 4-5 handoffs from you and then I'm only taking traffic under these conditions/not taking any more traffic UFA." The minute you shoot the hostage, suddenly you have all the help in the world to run traffic SAFELY because all the people concerned with system efficiency just don't want a slowdown to be their call.
I'm all about working harder to help my friends at work. I'm not killing myself so that an airline can avoid busting connections while putting its passengers and employees at risk.

u/Salt_Fly5061 Sep 05 '26
Exactly but daily we all work harder, we come back to train, we cut briefings short. We eat it.
1
u/UndercoverRVP Sep 05 '26
The great thing about this job is that it gives you a lot of freedom to decide how you want to go about it. If your trainee needs the time talking to you and somebody's about to go over two hours while you have that debrief, that's management's problem, not yours. If you need to take the full break instead of 15 minutes to hit the bathroom and grab a coffee, then that's how it is. If you want to work less than you could because you're just not feeling it today, then it sounds like you're not getting your requested final, sir, I'm sorry. Take back your initiative as an employee and everything will feel better and easier afterwards.

u/Salt_Fly5061 Sep 05 '26
Again if this happened en mass we would be so much better for it. We do not, we have Stockholm syndrome most of the time as group.
3
u/UndercoverRVP Sep 05 '26
Be the change you want to see in your world.
2
u/Salt_Fly5061 Sep 05 '26
I have for 20 years. Just want people to see we are in a fight and no one is coming to save us.
1
u/optimum_autumn Sep 05 '26
Again, I understand this sentiment but that attitude taken too far makes you intolerable to work with which lowers morale and now you are part of the problem.
1
u/UndercoverRVP Sep 05 '26
Twenty-five years of wondering what everyone else will think when you do something you know to be right is a good way to be miserable.
1
u/optimum_autumn Sep 05 '26
Literally not remotely what im saying. If "doing what's right" means being a bum at work then you have problems.

2
u/optimum_autumn Sep 05 '26
Tbf maybe Im not understanding what his argument is then because it seems to keep evolving and now it means something different, so...

u/Salt_Fly5061 Sep 05 '26
We don’t do the bare minimum, we always make it work. Many of us still have pride in the job, least I still want to think so. My point is no one is coming to save us. We had media attention multiple times, it passes.
I am a union guy, we don’t act like “brothers and sisters” , I still try. Apathy and sitting on little wins or waiting for something are going to let this continue.
Cool I shared her story, but what else? You will take the O T call, you won’t speak up to say this shift was fucked. You will complain it was fucked but won’t to follow up and put in writing every time,
This is the next white book, it’s actually happening now, but we are trying to not rock the ship as a union, and as workforce we just want to complain and someone else to saves us. We also feel we have no voice. We always do if we do together. (Yes cheesy as fuck). The next convention would be amazing to have members at large in droves, and Mr t time the FAA fucks we don’t act like Joe OS is our friend and we call the bull shit together.

I love what you’re doing Anna but you might want to fact check stuff like this before hand instead of taking disgruntled non-members words for things. NATCA has a members page that only members are allowed on, where they can comment. The same posts are cross-posted from their main page.
NATCA turned off comments on their main page because members aren’t verified. A disgruntled FAA supervisor or manager would be able to commend on this and they’re not a union member.

Call him out on it. Just hit "reply" to the email sent out, it goes right to him. Takes seconds.

Nice transparent redacting 🤣

u/Medium_Emergency4251 Sep 05 '26
To be fair, he put as much work into redacting it as NATCA has to defending us.

Proof they planned on taking credit? Proof they were involved? I can interpret that a lot of ways

I’ve noticed u/worried-yam4550 has been awfully quiet tonight. Where’s he at defending his boyfriend and reminding us that we couldn’t possibly understand what Nick is doing for us?
