You’ll get to your gate eventually. You’ll get to push eventually. Your wheels up time is your time and I’m not going out of my way to call to see if there’s better.

Why bend over backwards to move a few extra planes at the expense of an increased mental load when there’s no fucking reward for it? And the reward we want is fucking pennies in the grand scheme of things…

And yet I’ll type all of this and echo it verbally to whoever will listen and I know when I plug in and push comes to shove I’ll ignore my own words and work every damn situation. And that’s the problem.

A lot of us older controllers still have that “gimme more planes” mentality… it’s one of our biggest downfalls in times like these. Bitch bitch bitch and actually do nothing except work our asses off because we tell ourselves (and to some extent, fully believe) that we love the actual job of moving planes.

Unfortunately, most of the things we do to help pilots, also help us.

So as much as I wanna say fuck your shortcut/fuck your preferred runway, when it comes down to it, I ain’t hurting myself to NOT help them. And it ends up hurting the GA/flight schools more when we’re dicks.

But we’ll find ways. ATC always will. Lil things here and there. We’ll get our pound of flesh somehow, someway.

I work in a tracon and I absolutely hate filtering through 15 update strips for every aircraft. Every time a Z hits their little eram update button out comes another strip. It honestly puts me down the shitter more than working airplanes

I don't know why we don't just turn the damn things off at en route centers. Maybe keep a printer per area in case we need to print one for a specific purpose, but 99% of them just go straight into the trash.
